That is a Steelers away game and the Dublin one has always been a designated home game.

That was also the game where Coach T decided that jet lag wasn't a thing so they left late in the week and looked and played like they were exhausted. I'm betting he still won't have learned his lesson.

I remember that. He probably had a bowling league game on Thursday night and wanted to keep his non losing streak alive.

The draft used to have a lot more rounds and was done on two days

Bum Phillips traded away all of his day two picks

He said he had a poker game that day

"From our point of view, I don't think a lot has changed," owner Art Rooney II said to the team's official website on Wednesday. "I think we're planning to leave similar to what we did for the last international trip.

"Probably leave on Thursday and practice there on Friday and Saturday and have the game on Sunday and fly out Sunday night. I don't think it'll be too much different from the last trip."

We get it, it's just travel plans, but this is a microcosm of what is so wrong about this franchise. The Steelers seem incapable of changing anything when it doesn't work, and that is a source of frustration among fans.

It's not hard to see why the vibes aren't high for the Steelers in Pittsburgh, or anywhere else, for that matter.

is that two different things? you get lucky. the games are on TV. or is the game on while you are getting lucky? my condolences to your wife by the way. is there shrimp involved while you are getting lucky? inquiring minds want to know these questions. i assume you are watching the steelers games during this time which makes this relevant to the steelers site and not in general football section. :smiley1::cool:

Why the hell would Rooney want to leave on Thursday?! The same thing happened to the team in 2013 as @HeinzMustard@HeinzMustard alluded to and the result was that the team got blown out. Rooney should have the Steelers leave for Ireland on Monday to give the team a chance.

Steelers don't travel well outside of Eastern and Central time zones. Steelers finally beat the Raiders on the west coast during Pickett's rookie year after an almost 30 year drought. Steelers don't win very often in SF, SEA, LA, DEN and AZ. For some strange reason, Steelers usually played well in San Diego when Chargers were there.

Steelers are likely gonna get a shellacking in Ireland.

I know it reminded me of when the Saints had to play a playoff game in Chicago in about 2007, or 2008, and their HC S. Payton said he didn't believe the temp, and weather wouldn't effect them, and so practiced indoors. LoL.....I believe they got spanked 30 something to 14. LoL

I cannot speak for the logistical reasons as to why Pittsburgh playing out West has been a problem. I can confidentially say thought that the Steelers should leave that Monday before the game in Ireland. Given how AR II doesn't seem to think so, I believe you are right in the sense of Pittsburgh's woes traveling long distance.

That said, Pittsburgh has fared a bit better in recent years going west if I recall.
