Ya gotta admit...they're due for an off-season. Need to find out if Nutting and ARII ever had lunch or dinner together!

 

Pirates staff on a team with just a couple of real MLB players would be very competitive.

Our pitchers are not the problem.

 

The Colorado Rookies are maybe worst that the white sox last season...Right now they are at 6-33 with a run differenciel of -134

 

I guess the next interesting thing will be for Bubba Chandler to be called up from Indy. One injury to a starter and he could be here.

 

This time, even Sid Bream couldn't help the Milwaukee errr Atlanta Braves. WS, here we come! A home series win. Whoohoo. See all they needed was a new Manager, except when he gets tossed.

 

Yah, I was listening while working on my car. They tried mightily to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but Joey Bart pulled it out.

 

So sad what we have to get excited about.

And easily - could have been a sweep - for either team! Nice to finally be on par with the Braves for a change. Mets at home are scary. Not much hope here plus Bucs may not win another NLC game this year with even the Reds so far above them.

 

93.7 The Pham said Chandler may be up very soon. I checked and he is not on the 40, so someone has to go to open a spot. Could it be my favorite sub-Mendoza line outfielder? Oh please oh pleeeeeease! I think they would have to eat his contract but there is no production there anyway.
Interesting that Pham is listed as suspended as of today. I have no idea why. Wish they could suspend his bat.

 

It's from the outfield incident at Angel Stadium a few weeks ago with a fan who reached over and touched Pham's glove while he was retrieving a double in the corner. Pham signaled (I guess) with his glove for the fan to be tossed, which he should have, but it was ruled a player violation for some reason ("the bird between the lines"?). He appealed and lost.

 

Here's something that should warm the hearts of the 5 of us following the Bucs. Surprised but not really. Pirates rank as one of most profitable teams in MLB. Not sure if this is measured as a % of payroll or gross dollars.

Everyone wants him gone...so it won't happen. They'll likely send down Gorski, Peguero or Bae, just because they won't want to eat the contract...gotta keep that profitable edge ya know...

 

Man Skenes stinks!! He gave up 6 hits in 6 innings and to top it off he gave up an earned run!!! How does he expect us to win when he gives up a whole run. Send him down

 

The Bucs have now lost 6 of Skenes 9 starts. And it ain't Paul's fault.

 

Tommy Pham suspended --does it really matter

 

Bae can fly. I wish they would hire a baserunning/stealing coach to work with him. He does not seem to have baserunning instincts. But oh, that speed. It can’t be taught.

 

Nick Solak is hitting the cover off the ball at Indy, .384 with an OPS of 1.042. And we get to see Alexander Canario, who is below ML (Mendoza level).
I don’t know or care about Solak’s defense, if he can put his glove on the correct hand that should be enough for him to have Canario’s or Pham’s job. It is not like this is an expensive move. The Canario and Pham contracts are sunk costs (unless someone is stupid enough to assume their contracts). You have to pay them anyway, and the team can either suck as it does now or have the hope of sucking less.
I turned my radio off after the Pirates got down by one run. It is not likely that they can overcome such a deficit, and they will probably waste another good pitching performance.
Kelly shuffled the lineup in an attempt to produce some runs. Well, I guess you could rearrange the deck chairs all you want but the Titanic will still sink. The 2025 Pirates lineup is capable of making a replacement level pitcher look like prime years Sandy Koufax.
