Taylor's size is certainly a plus. Could create problems in the slot.

I believe Gainwell is the Patterson replacement. Chubb might be washed too. Cooper though, if healthy, would certainly make sense.

Patterson is still on the team isn’t he? I look at Chubb as low risk high reward. There was no way he was going to recapture form in his first year back from that injury but two years removed he should be better.

i understand - it a combo effort. We stink on offense b/c we SUCKED in our succession plan from Ben. That said, we ran pretty well even with Pickett.

but yes - we will struggle on offense with Tomlin

most of us have come to accept that.

Lynn Swann and John Stallworth could not fix that

Cooper or Allen would be nice

I'd bet Khan will do something, not entering this season flat footed like last.

But we will still stuggle. We have no threat at QB and we have Smith and Meyer

I'm not sure why fans expect players to just come in day 1 and play like an all pro unit. Our OL isn't an established unit going into this season yet. Now we are adding a new RB, 2 new QB, a rookie RB, and a rookie QB.

Warren and CA3 are the vets on this offense now. Them and the TE room.

The success of this offense depends on how fast these guys can all get on the same page and execute as a unit. 11 men have to execute each play well for an offense to be successful.

A veteran WR like Amari Cooper that has played and found success with multiple styles is not a terrible thought. Counting on Roman Wilson to be a better fit in this offense than a FA makes a ton of sense too.

While I'm not going to just shoot down any and all ideas I hear/read from mere fans, I'm going to trust the guys in the facility that are in charge of building the offense first. With the right players in the right positions, I have witnessed this team do some amazing things.

Also keep in mind Thompson only beat Howard out for the job at KSU because they don't start freshman at KSU. Henigan started as a true freshman.

Ohh I see what I did, I left Gainwell off completely. So I would jettison Patterson and have, Warren, Johnson, Gainwell and Chubb.

Well having THAT D was a bit of help, lol. having Franco and Rocky did not hurt, but a rookie named Mike Krucek won a ton of games that season (was it 76) when Brad went out. It really will depend on O line play, and getting an even decent 2 WR will probably be essential, Smith's offence could and can work with even mediocre QB with the other essentials in place. Not saying you are getting flashy, upscale championship quality O, but one that at least can compete on the NFL level.

The names being tossed about are of course possibilities, but for the most part you either get old or 3 or 4 types who really have not proven anything, and of course still nothing set at QB. There are several teams with WR rooms exploding. GB and TB are 8 to 10 deep, not saying them exactly, but if you can find and make a decent deal before the season it makes sense. Waiting until cuts you can certainly find someone who just does not make a team due to their depth, but still a decent player.

Look, man. Stop trying to re-write history, it's not going to work. You are the definition of gaslighting and condescension in your squabbles with the community here.

Put your effort into being more respectful to everyone. Stop wasting it with insipid arguments like these over and over again.

I'm not rewriting history, and I do not have a history of gaslighting here. I corrected you about that once, so please stop telling that lie. What you are doing is hoping the people I've had squabbles with in the past will thoughtlessly side with you without understanding the context, thus allowing you to get away with being rude and condescending.

I agree that this argument is insipid, but you are the one who keeps starting it by refusing to treat me with respect. At this point, it is clear that you have no interest in being helpful. You are simply trolling and looking for an argument, which is why I called you a hypocrite.

Scribe, move on. I'm not playing these games with you, and no one else wants to read this drivel either.

I'm not taking sides but you accused me and Jeh going back and forth in every thread, wasn't good for the board so I stopped doing that. But you and Scribe are doing the same thing.

As you post this, you are trying to help Jeh start the game on another thread. Hypocrisy, thy name is Thor. You should change handles. Thor is supposed to smash trolls not act like one.
Never try to tell me how to post again and I promise this argument will go away, but I doubt you can do it.

Well, we aren't just exchanging insults and clown memes across numerous threads, repeatedly calling each other stupid. My stance is we should treat each other with a certain modicum of respect, so as to have more productive discussions. Obviously (perhaps too much so), I take issue with Scribe's tone/words with others. Just as obviously, he disagrees.

Still, I can see where my actions came off as hypocritical, and my apologies.

And I appreciate you guys settling similar differences. :thumbs up:

Thor, this is a pretty self-inquisitive take. I just want you to know that I (and could assume that most others) don't feel like you are a negative person to interact with. You've shown the desire to keep it civil and you're generally very good to interact (and disagree with). We're all human and susceptible to mistakes, but I don't ever feel like there's been a general lack of respect from you (or others around here) except for one anomalous individual. You obviously know who that is.

You certainly don't take too much issue with this poster's tone/words. You aren't the only person to take issue with the utter lack of respect this individual treats others with, and it is pretty widely acknowledged and disliked across the message board. I would recommend the mute button. Personally, I never thought I would use it because words don't offend me easily and I have a very high tolerance for others being rude/mean, etc. However, the repetitive loop of arguments that spanned across many threads are what finally convinced me. Every time I interacted with this person it became an endless, repetitive, loop.

    - Their take
    - Why my dissenting take is wrong
    - Actually my dissenting take is wrong because I am dumb, or he/she is better than me... get insulted, idiot.
    - How dare you bring the same energy to ME that I have brought to you and others?! Rude af, man.
    - I am actually the problem. I am now dumb AND flawed. I need to work on myself, if I am capable of doing so.... (Generally gift wrapped in yet another underhanded personal insult).

I probably did this in a half a dozen threads over the course of 3-4 weeks before I saw that I was having the same conversation, over and over again. It was getting exhausting to deal with (and generally took away from the actual conversation being had in the thread). I had something typed up, I re-read it (like I do just about every post before I hit "post reply"), and just realized that I didn't have to do this. I can just choose to not interact with someone who is unwilling to interact on even ground with me (or anyone else). So for a while I didn't. But the same things happened to other posters in a myriad of different threads involving the same individual. It was inescapable.... eternal, even. I couldn't break the "loop" without using the mute button, and its the only time I've ever been forced into using it in my nearly 12 years posting here.

Do it. Trust me. Its been a vast improvement. You don't realize how little value the words hold until they are gone. I've lost nothing in the way of meaningful interaction on here, and continued enjoying this board for what it is (and what it has always been). A really good place for a bunch of fans to get together and talk/debate Steelers football. One rotten egg can't spoil it, no matter how rotten it is.

    Keep doing you, Thor.
