Steelers GM Omar Khan speaks

He says this after trading one of their best weapons on offense.

 

He's right that it isn't the same as last year. Our 2025 group will be worse than last year's...

Khan didn't rule out adding another WR this gives me hope

 

I didn't read it that way. It read like he was trying to be careful in how he said things.

I think the real objective of the team is to understand that we will probably have a rougher year this year and address the QB situation next year. We had to purge some locker room issues that existed the past couple years and are going to see where this goes. We have a good bit of talent on the team, we just need a bit more direction. Next year's draft is going to shape that direction massively.

 

Darn it…cliff notes:
Khan repeated more than once it was good for both sides to get a fresh start.
I interpreted as he was a problem and be best for both involved to move on.

 

Fans were complaining about there were no big changes after the season well they got rid of their starting QB, RB, and WR.

 

Hardly. Johnson is a better fit in a wide zone system than Harris. Metcalf is a better receiver than Pickens. On top of that our #2 woods is better than we trotted out there last year. On top of all of that we can still add another wr whether that be via trade(we have the capital) or free agent acquisition. Cliff’s notes- the sky is not falling

 

I agree with this... but Steelers need another WR for insurance in case Roman Wilson is a bust.

That's on you if you thought they were going to fire a bunch of coaches after the season .

Sounds that way.If he's concerned now, he'd better take off them Baby Gaps and put some Big Boy Brithes on, because if this chit does'nt pan out, he'll be in for some serious criticism.

 

Khan has a lot to prove.
He may be in over his head.
Its a shock the Steelers didn't already sign a WR.

 

I am excited about Roman WIlson. I feel like we have our Hines Ward 2.0. Only faster. And DK should be better than Antonio Brown. I think Khan's got it.

 

Omar Khan is employing politician speak. This offense, especially given the coaching staff, isn't close to contending.

"Focus on winning a Championship" really means they are focused on 9-8, the Mike Tomlin Participation Trophy.

 

I've generally been alright with the Pickens trade, and have high hopes for Wilson, but Khan could've found a better evasive strategy than to say the WR room isn't even close to last year's. Because it, and the offense in general, is virtually the same except for the QB room - which right now is worse than last season.

- Johnson replacing Harris is trading out big backs, won't know if/how much of an upgrade he is until he steps on the field

Totally, but he needs to brush up on his skills. Anybody can BS. Doing it in convincing fashion takes a certain dedication to your craft. Unless you're from the south.

 

Well, both are still under contract for 2025. Art ll wasn't going to pay both of those guys to sit at home and not coach.

 

It's a shame our owner doesn't want to win at all costs.
