OK, smart guy. Go ahead and feign superiority and take that ball that nobody wants home with your undeserved smugness.

They don't want the truth. They want to try and be "right" more than being truthful.

You honestly thought Metcalf was a good little kid. And now you just want to be blind.

I'm fine with DK. Just like I was fine with pickens. But for y'all who lost it on pickens behavior, you'll be pulling your butt hair out of frustration by the end of the season on Metcalf.

Again..... and this is just some of the stuff.

    1. 2021 Met was EJECTED after grabbing the facemask of not one, but TWO defenders in the packers game.
    2. He even tried to re-enter the game after his ejecti9on
    3. 2024 Met had a physical altercation with Bears player where he literally headbutted him. which lead to not one but TWO penalties
    4. Met vs 49ers
    5. High penalty rate he draws 3 times as many penalties, including numerous 10 and 15 yard infractions.
    6. Fined by the shield for $11,255 for unnecessary roughness penalty on the giants in 2024.
    7. despite penalties, Met flat out told the media "I'm not going to change the way I play or who I am"
    8. Met learned sign language so he would not get penalties for taunting and talking trash.
    9. Pete Carrol even said the team tracks the penalties that Met causes and that Met was the leader in penalties.
    10. you think steeler fans were bad with complaining about pickens atitude? Ha, seahawk fans had articles written by non seahawks beatwriters for them.
    11. Dude fights during training camp (hence why I said our beat writers will be writing day one he gets into camp)
    12. fined for hit on Witherspoon
    13. Met swung his freaking helmet at his own teammate.

Pickens throws a fit after the browns game on a browns CB...... and this place lost it.

Metcalf was EJECTED after grabbing the facemask of not one, but TWO defenders in the packers game. He even tried to re-enter the game after his ejection....... this place turns a blind eye.

The second Metcalf throws a helmet at a teammate, this board is going to lose it with having to lock it down from threads being made complaining.

For the record, I'm fine with this behavior. I was done with pickens.

The posts that will inevitably appear on this message board, when Metcalf commits a game altering penalty out of frustration, will be entertaining.

you see where Carroll said he keeps records of Metcalf penalties and how it cost them games? and this was Metcalf response....

"So, that's all I nail it down to," Metcalf continued. "Nobody's perfect. I'm my own person, like I just said. I'm a competitive person. I'm not gonna shy away because (Carroll) put a penalty board on the screen. I'm just continue to be me."

this board would lose it if pickens did that.

You honestly think that is the same as Pickens my guy?

Like I said, we have different definitions of what a cancer is. I never said he is clean as a whistle but you keep trying to paint him as a cancer and that ain’t it.

Im still waiting for any examples of him letting his teammates down by quitting on plays like Pickens did, not showing up for meetings, being constantly late and assigning players to babysit him during games to keep him from fighting with fans, you know, things that actually define locker room cancer. Not a list of things that define a competitor and getting penalties that every player gets.

The difference that I pick up on is production. DK produces.
There is no questioning that Pickens has talent, and he did labor behind some terrible QB's and a God-awful, terrible, disaster of a OC.
DK's aggression seems to come giving 110%... trying to win, while Pickens just seemed to be pouting.
DK's likely to yell at teammates who do not put up 100%... Pickens just seemed for no reasons.
It is possible and likely that the two could not coexist in the same stadium, as I don't think DK would tolerate Pickens moody antics.
And DK is physically a lot bigger.

The trade still just makes me slam my fist on the desk... I am not a fan of Pinky and the Brain at all.

So we get Metcalf. Now the questions linger.
This coaching staff has a terrible track record for managing players like that.
Though DK's issues seem to range around lack of effort/losing, can they deal with this? They haven't.
If DK draws stupid penalties, what then?

In my opinion, DK is a definite upgrade though he comes with some baggage.
We are not helping him with QB's or WR's opposite of him that are capable for forcing mistakes from the defenses.
We have an underproducing TE that could help.
I think Smith can utilize DK's skills better than he could Pickens.

Maybe it turns up as a wash... but I am willing to wait-n-see.

It's not often remembered that Lambert held out in 1977 for more money.

In fact, the 1977 preseason was a bit of a ****show. Highlights (courtesy Bob Labriola https://www.steelers.com/news/labriola-on-the-no-1-distraction-in-team-history-19690727):

    • Feb. 21, 1977: Ernie Holmes' trial for possession of 250 milligrams of cocaine ended in acquittal 75 minutes after it went to the jury in Amarillo, Texas.
    • July 21, 1977: Jack Lambert decided not to report to training camp, because he was unhappy with the salary he was to be paid in the option year of the contract he originally signed in 1974 as a rookie from Kent State.
    • July 22, 1977: Glen Edwards announced that he also was unhappy with his contract.
    • July 28, 1977: Jack Lambert's agent upped the ante a little bit, and this was the headline on the top of the sports page in the Pittsburgh Press: "Agent tells Rooney: Jack wants traded."
    • Late August 1977: Chuck Noll named the team's captains for the upcoming season, and even this seemingly innocuous event became controversial. When word got to Lambert that he had been bypassed as a defensive captain, he voiced his disappointment publicly. Noll fired back in the media that Lambert didn't deserve to be a captain because he held out all through training camp.
    • October 1977: Backup cornerback Jimmy Allen quit the team, but changed his mind the next day and came back.
    • Nov. 4, 1977: A couple of days before the Nov. 6 game in Denver, Edwards left the team because he was unhappy with the new contract he had just signed, but then he returned after the Steelers lost, 21-7, to drop to 4-4.
    • Dec. 9, 1977: Noll slipped on a patch of ice in Cincinnati and broke his arm on the night before a game against the Bengals that the Steelers lost, 17-10

Man, y'all keep moving the goal post.

    1. So swinging a helmet at a teammate is nothing?
    2. Slowing down on plays and giving up on holding the ball to where a fumble is caused is nothing?
    3. Not listening to the coach is nothing?
    4. Causing penalties from illegal blocking (that are fines), getting elected from grabbing helmets of multiple players is nothing?
    5. Grabbing helmets of multiple teams is nothing?
    6. His fine in total is almost the same as Pickens in total, is nothing?

This is not a one time stuff, it's a lot lot.

Personally, I don’t care for either Pickens or Metcalf outside of their incredible talent which is very selective in use. When these guys take plays off then that tells me that they are not team players. I wasn’t very excited when we picked up DK but I thought together they could be a force and contribute positively and maybe it would be cohesive for the offense. Now without Pickens we are back to an easy to defend offense. I was beginning to think that Rodger’s could possibly work with these weapons but now I hope they don’t sign him at all. Time to see if the other QBs can play the part even with what little help they may have.

    1. So swinging a helmet at a teammate is nothing? Happens sometimes, teammates fight.
    2. Slowing down on plays and giving up on holding the ball to where a fumble is caused is nothing? Bonehead play, thought he was safe.
    3. Not listening to the coach is nothing? Don’t know what you are talking about here. Are you perhaps believing media reports
    4. Causing penalties from illegal blocking (that are fines), getting elected from grabbing helmets of multiple players is nothing? Yes, nothing
    5. Grabbing helmets of multiple teams is nothing? Yes, nothing
    6. His fine in total is almost the same as Pickens in total, is nothing? In one season or entire career? And were those fines from blowing off meetings, being late to games, ect.

We’ll see Mash. Even AI said it’s not accurate to label him a cancer.

When the season plays out and he’s not being the distraction Pickens was then you’ll see the difference.

Your juvenile responses only reinforce the fact that you have nothing of substance to offer. Like a lot of individuals on this message board, when you are proven incorrect and faced with real data, you resort to childish tendencies.
I'm actually surprised you didn't respond with "I'm rubber you're glue and whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you."
