Something tells me even if you were privy to every single bit of information the front office has and their plan you would complain.

Very true but the steelers are always half rebuilding, half the other way since that time despite this

I like that the Steelers are getting rid of the knuckleheads and players who do not want to compete for their jobs. They are building a better roster than the latter Colbert years. Hopefully they get their franchise QB in 2026 and the rest of the roster is ready.

Yes I like their last few drafts, the injuries to Fautanu and Wilson last year were unfortunate but I honestly believe that they are building a solid team. QB will be the determining factor of course, they haven’t had an opportunity to get their guy yet but will have to take a big swing soon.

I’m disappointed because GP is such a talent but he had to go. Temper tantrums, low effort etc etc. Looking from the outside in I think they just had enough of this guy. They have time to get someone else in so let’s not panic

    ya, that’s an incomplete comparison.
Tomlin is the clone of half Barry Switzer and half Marvin Lewis.

Tomlin won big with great players and assistant coaches he inherited (like switzer), and then went into non-losing mode like Lewis.

Khans plan is quite simple; correct the mistakes made from 2018 to 2022 under Kevin Colbert. So far, he has done far more good than harm. As opposed to choose players akin to filling out a Bingo Card, Khan has drafted for value while addressing need. That said, having Andy Weidl helps out a lot.

The issue isn't Khan/Weidl. The issue has been player development on Offense. That falls squarely on Tomlins shoulders for he has had a major hand in picking the Offensive Personnel. Of them, Pat Meyer has been the most damning thus far. Not hiring a Run Game Coordinator is also very confusing; doubly so since Arthur Smith features a run heavy approach.

The biggest test is still to come with the Offensive Line. As I have been on record many times over, put up or shut up time for Broderick Jones. Either he can or he cannot. Same goes for Meyer. Either the Steelers Offensive Line will finally unlock its potential under him or Meyer will be out of a job again and potentially out of the league.

I agree with you here. I think Khan and Weidl are doing good work for the most part. They had a huge job on their hands when they took over and the players they’re drafting are contributing for the most part.

Without a QB or a functioning Oline the offence has no identity and it takes time to put these things in place.

Do the drapes match the carpet? @S.T.D@S.T.D math doesn’t account for that twist.

Bingo. I’m Ok with it because Pickens was clearly not going to be a Steeler beyond 2025. An option could have been to extend Pickens, but I haven’t looked into the contracts/cap details to know if it could have worked. Even if it did, giving a $30M+/year extension to someone with his maturity issues would have been risky.

I was at this conclusion since Khan has been acquiring assets to make a move in 2026; early this Offseason. Again, not happy about the Pickens move but I can say that Trench Warfare is going to either make or break this team; something I now know that both Tomlin and Arthur Smith are banking on. Biggest question remains though if Broderick Jones can put it all together.

Talent and potential are only those factors by themselves. Have to add some skill, discipline and consistency to be truly great.

People tend to forget how long it took Howie Roseman and the Eagles to build those bememoths on both sides... well, that and Howie stirking absolute gold with Jalen Carter. Andy isnt new to building the Trenches himself; an understudy of both Howie Roseman and Ozzy Newsome. Khan isnt either given how Kevin Colbert did draft the likes of Faneca, Max Starks, Kendall Simmons, Jeff Hartings, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, etc.

That said, it is very clear that Weidl has more input than the team is letting on. Keep in mind that in back to back seasons, Weidl was offered GM Positions. He ended up backing out; no accident there. Now this can all change in the future but givem how Andy has had oppurtunuties to go elsewhere and decline, he might be in Pittsburgh for a while yet.

A good thing if I may add if this is the case. As you said, QB remains the biggest obstacle. Thankfully, a very talented but top heavy QB Class is on the way.

    I will say it again.

HOF QB, #1 RB, #1 WR, Pro Bowl OL, and an above average defense and go 1 and done in the playoffs....against Jax.

We have changed all of that, the majority of the coaches, both OC/DC and the problem remains. One of them took 2 teams to the SB (Cards?? or just the Bucs??) and the DC turned the Titans defense into a top 5 from like 28.

I have been a Steelers fan for 40+ yrs, and teams just do not run 100 yards, or should I say they did not, on the Steelers. It is F'n embarrassing to hear 200-300 yards like it is normal. For a 'defensive guru,' the guy doesn't know defense.

I am not a call the coach's head kind of guy BUT everything else has been changed. The problems remain... :tequila:

I'm a Carbon copy of Cris Cornell....if we are only talking about a certain number of Years that fit my narrative....LoL, but guess what You can't do that. One has never won a playoff game , and one has won 8, a SB, and been to another. So I don't see how it's the same.
