    Which part of:
    • doesn't run precise routes
    • gives up on plays mid-route
    • is a reluctant blocker
    • doesn't consistently get open against good CBs
    • has more fines than TDs last season
    • takes an entire team to keep under control during a game
    • is a locker room problem
means the Steelers should have gotten a 2nd round pick for Pickens?

Here's what are AFCN brethren have to say (clearly more positive on the trade than some of yinz):
    • "Steelers only real threat on offense is gone - not worried about DK Metcalf at all. No QB, no running game, no TE to worry about. Yet we will still play ugly against them at least once per year. Lol"
    • "You were more concerned with Pickens than Metcalf? If I have a choice between the two I am taking Metcalf all day long"
    • "Wow the Steelers getting a 3rd round pick is, I hate to say it, a very good trade for them given Pickens is in final year of his contract. I doubt the additional late-round swap is a big thing. I doubt any other team would have given more than a 4th, esp given Pickens on-the-field attitude. Watch him in Dallas when Cee Dee is getting most of the passes"
    • "Whoever the Steelers QB is they also won't have to deal with all the whining that comes with Pickens. The Cowboys are going to be in for some epic complaining since Lamb is always among the target leaders each year. Maybe the Cowboys avoid that with a huge extension for Pickens before the season but they can't even get Parsons done."
    • "So... Metcalf to the Steelers.. Pickens gets salty and demands a trade. Pickens to the Cowboys... Does Ceedee get salty and demand a trade? Sometimes I wish the Ravens would have these diva WR issues. We never have WR's good enough to be divas. LOL"
    • "My first reaction was to be glad because Pickens has burnt the Ravens repeatedly. But my second reaction was to admit that this was an intelligent move by the Steelers. He's a me-first head case and good organizations do not tolerate those. Obviously, Dallas is no longer a good organization (they haven't been for 30 years) and wants him."
    • "If you hate pickens, the next WR taken was Alec Pierce who has been a decent WR with the COLTS. He is that big possession WR who decosta said does not grow on trees. I posted about Pierce all prior to and during that draft because he was my favorite WR prospect in that draft. He has had 2 500+ yard and now almost 800 yard seasons."

Matt Williamson did a special podcast to talk about this. He said they've been shopping him for quite some time. Adding, "I'll just get it out of the way, he was disliked inside those walls, and they're happy he's gone." He went on to say "He might've had a good year here, but man, there was a lot of discontent. And I can tell you he was not well liked by teammates, or really anybody in the building. Sounds like things were worse than we thought.

He didn't love the haul either but said that they do get their 3rd next year for him instead of a comp pick in two years, and will most likely make another move.

Add to this a report that Wilson came to back to the Steelers 'in surprising shape' according to Fowler.

If the Steelers gave up a third rounder for one year of a head case receiver, many would feel they got fleeced. Well, the Cowboys just did exactly that.
The early pre draft scouting report saying they wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole is telling. Athletic talent is apparent early. When he was 9 years old he was probably kicking the ass of 12 year olds at football. When he was 12 he was probably better than grown men. He knew it and was likely told he was special.
    It creates an entitled brat.

This is what I was writing about on the Woods thread. Right now, it seems like that is their replacement, which is as stupid as counting on Van Jefferson last year. If they do sign Cooper, that costs them resources they wouldn't have had to spend if they had just kept Pickens and taken the comp pick a year from now.

All of those quotes are worthless because you aren't showing us where you got them. Sounds like fan comments.

Please explain the locker room problems he caused. I don't mean speculation you've seen. I mean facts.

With all his flaws, he was still a huge part of the offense, which fell apart without him.

He is in a contract year so unless this some sort of fleecing of the cowobys this makes no sense now! How could you not have had a plan coming into the draft with Pickens. I don't like the guy from an attitude basis but you should have shopped him long ago but after the draft. Really?

Still banging the comp pick drum. You should know better than to think that’s a given.

Mike Tomlin seems to know when to part ways with WRs. If this is true, I trust that it was the right decision.

Maybe something towards trading up for next year's draft seeing that it was not going to benefit the team this year

Listen it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. It has become a problem with Tomlin. He can’t control the locker room never was able too. In the past he had guys in the locker room who would control it for him like Hines Ward, Jerome Bettis, Joey Porter and Maurice Punchy. When he doesn’t have guys like that in the locker room he doesn’t know how to deal with conflicting players. He is all about being a mentor of young men and he does it in a way where he is like their cool uncle a peer almost. The problem with that is you can’t be their peer and make management decisions that affect those same players. They get too close to you and feel betrayed. Tomlin runs from conflict he can’t handle it on a personal level with these guys. So he allows continued poor behavior by certain players that he needs to continue. It continues until it becomes a problem for the rest of the team and it is too disruptive and then he cuts bait with those players.

Terry Bradshaw said it a long time ago about Tomlin. He said “He is not a coach he is a Cheerleader”. You know where that is coming from. Bradshaw observed Tomlin with his player in particular probably Ben Roethlisberger and he was amazed and shocked. Bradshaw understand a real coach with structure and accountability in being coached by Noll. He knew when he observed Tomlin and Ben it was vastly different than it was for Bradshaw with Noll. A good coach doesn’t allow players to run the team they demand respect and they make the all the players accountable to the team. Tomlin relies on strong players to essentially run the culture on the team. Thats why everyone has been complaining about leadership in the locker room and on the team and in particular on offense.

I have never ever heard other teams complain about lack of leadership among players on the team. If you have a good HC and coaches underneath him you don’t need good leaders on the team. Its a cop out. Rooney continues to allow Tomlin to run the team like this with no accountability and we keep trading away superior talent for lesser assets. I in fact believe had Ben come up under a different HC he probably would have even been better. When we had the one OC who came from KC and went onto Cleveland he was tough on Ben. That guy made Ben better. Ben didn’t like the guy so Tomlin relented and we got rid of the coach. Ben was not as good after that coach left.

These problems will arise again with Metcalf because Tomlin is who he is and Metcalf is who he is. Nothing will change until we get rid of the real problem and that is Tomlin.

He won’t give up! Acts like Pickens was 99% of our offense. The only reason this trade is Shocking is someone was Dumb enough to take him.
My buddy is a die hard Cowboys fan, he wasn’t too happy, but said it’s still on rookie contract for 1 year.
He said hopefully he grows up. If not see ya

Funny, but I wouldn't put Pickens in with those guys. Wouldn't surprise me if he has a monster year with the Cowboys.

My position makes a lot of sense. In fact it is a a quite obvious pattern with Tomlin for everyone to see. Just open up your eyes.
