I wish him the best, but I really hope he lands somewhere outside the AFC North.

No doubt. It makes sense that teams in our division are bringing him in; they would know the most about what he can do.

It'll be humorous listening to Bengals fans doing a complete 180 on the feelings about Harrison if he signs. I live here and work with a bunch of people saying that he is the dirtiest player currently in the NFL. Of coarse, Kimo Von Olhoffen remains as their number 1 over all still.

Watching him play in stripes will be a disturbing to me but I can't blame him for taking his services elsewhere since the Steelers aren't going to resign him. Every man's got to look out for themselves.

More power to Harrison, can imagine how pumped Harrison will get playing the Steelers, and that can be really bad of Ben and the rest of the team. Just him playing against us would be a very big asset to his team as he has a lot to prove to the Steelers for letting him go.

I don't think the Steelers "let him go". From what was reported they asked him to take a pay cut but would have still been paying him a very respectable salary of over $4 million annually. That's pretty good for a 35 year old LB with significant back and knee problems the last couple of years. I think James and his agent are discovering now how generous an offer that actually was.

Unfortunately, I think he knows what the results will be if he can go up against Marcus Gilbert & Mike Adams twice a year.

Exactly where was the "you can't go, the fans don't want you to" clause in his contract? I only see where he stood firm on what money he would accept, and that didn't agree with what the team could afford/was willing to offer. He is choosing to take as long as possible to "test the market".

I don't think he wants to stick it to us, I think he just wants to play.

More information would be helpful, I can't recall any other team showing interest in him and if that's the case then you have to play the cards your dealt but if he's steering his agent towards a team in our division, I think it's because he'd like to play us twice a year. And while I agree that I am sure he just wants to play, there isn't a player on the planet in any sport that doesn't like to beat their old team when they have been traded or cut, show them they made a mistake.

I agree but there is a difference between targeting a team in your old division so you can stick it to them and wanting to beat your old team.

He was released, but it was really because of his and his agent's own stupidity and stubbornness. They miscalculated his worth on the open market big time and now they're paying the price. I guarantee you that the contract the Bengals end up giving him will be less than the one the Steelers offered him to stay.

Released, cut, makes no difference to Harrison I bet. And yes, I doubt anyone offers him what he would have made here.

none of these released guys are getting big contracts though. maybe the owners sending a message? maybe they want the cap to stay down and bring some salaries back into adjustment. there are alot of good people with low contracts finding work. big names wanting big contracts are not. he's not alone anyway.

This may be the big picture. We may see a couple more weird off-seasons and regular seasons. A lot of quality players, including Pro Bowlers, may be on the street again. What teams can afford to pay is changing. What they WANT to pay is also changing. Players are going to have to re-assess what they feel they are worth as free agents. We know how valuable they are on the field. How that translates to the wallet is changing.

I think the Bengals interest would be more about learning about our defensive system, than about Harrison's on field contributions. Just my opinion.

Marvin Lewis worked in our defensive system, he doesn't need anything from Harrison... I think Harrison could really thrive in their system with guys like Atkins and Michael Johnson keeping blocker off of him. He's lost a step as a pass rusher but is still a beast against the run...

And can you imagine them blitzing him along with all their young guys on the DL? I gotta admit, the BUngles are looking pretty scary.

Yea Buddy, it would be like men playing with boys. Our TE would never leave the line of scrimmage.
Pretty ingenious don't ya think? To take a way a major portion of your offense, because your OL can't block him? LOL
