Okay, I know that there are many on this board that believe that drafting a QB this year would be a wasted pick no matter where they were drafted. I happen to be one that believes it would not be a wasted pick to draft a QB that would be a quality backup to Ben and could (could) develop into a quality starter with a little seasoning. A few on this board agree that a quarterback could be in the Steelers plans based on the mock drafts posted here and some of the comments. Even a few draft analysts who are supposedly "in the know" believe a quarterback could be drafted by the Steelers.

I'm asking everyone to put their hypothetical hats on for just a minute. IF the Steelers decide to draft a QB this year, who would be your QB of choice and in what round should we grab him? I don't think it's any surprise that mine would be Tyler Bray in the 3rd or 4th round. This guy is a risk/reward kind of individual and his issues at Tennessee are well documented. BUT...he could actually develop into a franchise quarterback if he were to land in the right place. Pittsburgh could be such a place. He wouldn't need to play right away and he could watch and learn from Ben for a few years before he has to take the reins. Many have said that to get our next franchise quarterback that we'd have to spend a first round pick on him but if we can get him now with a mid-round pick, it may be worth a shot.

If we pick a quarterback this year, who should it be and what round should we pick him in?

I don't expect us to draft a QB anywhere near the first 3 rounds. But I do think we will draft someone. As to who that will be, I have no idea. I think we need to draft someone who has a decent arm and winning intangibles who can serve as our #3. We need someone closer to the age of 20, rather than 40. But I'm not expecting us to find the next Tom Brady in the 6th round. But you never know.

    Mike Glennon rd 4
a work in progress but tall like Joey Flacco and
WE ALL KNOW HE'S THE BEST IN THE NFL:rolleyes:

read where he has great pocket presence but suffers in accuracy and decision making sounds like ben;)

i really wished they would just wait til next year and pick Bryn Renner ( sr UNC) who i saw was projecteds to be a 5-6 rd next year
but i guarantee that Larry Fedora will have him in the Heisman trophy talk by end of 2013, and if we have a shtty year as some predict here we might be able to get him early:smiley1:
he has Eric Ebron as TE too which i know will leave next year after his junior year Awesome player.
    Watch out for these two.

    back to this year
maybe we can get Jordan Rodgers projected to be 7th or udfa ???

we need to get something new behind Ben just not so sure it should be this year
    but
i'm not in the FO

Renfree in the 6th or 7th. He may end up being a better pro that he was in college because he has never had a talented group around him to work with.

I believe a UDFA is most likely in our future, but if we were to draft a QB this year, I think it would probably be Renfree or Jones as late round guys.

I'd throw in Dysert's name as well if he were to fall, or if we gained additional picks by trading down earlier on.

In our mock draft on here, I haven't noticed any picks that seem ridiculous reaches which may skew when some players end up being taken. With that being said, I noticed in the 4th round how Ryan Nassib hadn't been taken, and was wondering if anybody knew why. Everything I'm reading about him is that his stock has been going up recently. I wouldn't have a problem if he fell into the 4th round and we took him!

most mocks I've seen have nassib going in the 2nd...... I think in our mock, people are just being more sensible and prioritizing needs

Yeah, when he was still available in the 5th, the Giants couldn't pass him up. :)

Why not take another Miami of Ohio QB? ;)

    I'd vote Dysert as well.

Dont see us drafting a QB this draft with the signing of Grad (3 years).....Think we will bring in one UDFA just for comp. Grads the guy for now!! Batch and Lefty are out.

Washington St QB Tuel late is the only one I think they can get good value for. I do like Wilson and Scott but believe they will be picked higher than Steelers should invest- especially since both have higher odds on being a career back up than considered a pick everyone crowns the steal of the draft.

A late-round QB seems plausible for a backup, but we won't get our franchise QB this year.

Any thoughts on who you think that might be?
