A 5th and a 7th. I dont really have any opinion of Milton but thats not a steep price.

They must really believe in Rodgers. Hope that doesn’t bite them like Wilson. I mean they are aware they need a QB past this season right? Seems like two missed opportunities with Fields and Milton.

Oh well, maybe bandaids every off season is the plan for the foreseeable future.

No reason to think we didn't kick the tires on trading for Milton. I wanted Milton too. I like the thought of getting a young QB so we don't need to draft one this year. But that would leave us with only 5 picks this draft. It's s deep draft in several positions. Poor at QB but rich at others is a plan as well.

Hard pass on Milton. Arm like a cannon but not accurate and no touch. With his size, I always expected him to be more a threat to run but he goes down on first contact.

The draft picks is a fair point but maybe a player for player trade. You’re right though, we don’t know if they tried but just seems they are locked in on Rodgers. And they may even have a deal under the table for him already for all we know.

I just figured get as many possibilities as you can in here, even if Milton is just the backup, still gives you the opportunity to be developed.

    Rodgers
    Rudolph
    Milton

Then maybe Milton shows something during the season to the coaching staff and can roll with him next year or if he still has the same issues you turn to the draft.

I just don’t like this eggs all in one basket approach.

Yep, agreed. I have no idea of we looked into it or not. I remember reading that the Patriots were shopping him sort of. There was a little bit of discussion on bringing him here. I liked that idea but several did not.

I would love to get rich in quality DBs for a change. Seems we're always one short.

I've thought about that, and I think they're biting off more than they can chew. You've got rebuild vs. retool, contention vs. all-in. Right now they don't have to think about going all-in any more than committing a full rebuild. But they're concerning themselves with retooling strategies to the point that they're impeding their progress as a contender.

Thus they remain spinning their wheels in the rut of nine-win seasons.

I have a weird thing for some of the cartoon and comic strip ladies. Dug me some Betty and was sure I could kick Barney's ass;) When she came of age of course, your picture is when they were kiddies.

To continue the high jacking - not comic strip, but animated characters: Holli Would and Jessica Rabbit.

The entire offensive line has been completely redone since three seasons ago. The LB corp has been rebuilt (sans Watt). The QB room has been rebuilt, now twice. The DL is about to undergo a rebuild.

They won't call it a rebuild, but that's what it is.

A rebuild is more invasive, going beyond areas of the roster. The coaching staff (and sometimes FO) are flushed and reset, and skill payers traded out for draft picks that are used to build the foundation of the new staff's scheme.

Art openly supported the coaching staff after the season, declining even the idea of adding a few specialized assistants to the group (that many in the league already have). Okay, but then the space was there to add more impactful players this year, but they opted instead to protect all potential comp picks next year while dropping $30M/yr on a wide receiver when only Skylar Thompson was available to play QB.

They're trying to do two things at once, and it shows. Their moves come off as half-measures.

I take it you were not impressed with Tomlin firing the secondary coach as his attempt at cleaning house? LOL.

    It’s not a rebuild

Actually the average career of an nfl player is only 3.3 years which equates to a half life of about 20 months

What they are doing is certainly not out of line from this

And don't call it a comeback.

forgotten1 will have fun with that.
