Another great outing by Skenes. Great 7 innings pitched. keep on padding that future payday Paul!

Not sure he'll come out in 8th.

7 innings, 3 hits, 6 K's. Leaves with a 3-1 lead. Will the bullpen screw him???

72 was lowest win total prediction. I'm awarding him the victory already cause this is one terrible team. Can't see them breaking 70 wins. Skenes can't pitch everyday and the bullpen is flat out crap. Reynolds is at .194 to start season. It's early.

Don't think the Pirates have had someone hit consistently all season since Freddy Sanchez won the batting crown at .344 in 2006. Whether it's been Reynolds, Josh Bell, Marte, Cutch and now Cruz - never really any consistency - just hot and cold streaks. 8 center fielders in last 8 years? We're doomed.

we've only had a handful of winning seasons since 1979. This club is done. No point in even watching them anymore.

Can't imagine what they're saying in Hot'Lanta right now with the fearsome Braves sitting at 0-7. Hopefully the Bucs spank the Yanks this weekend, assuming the Green Weenie eats all those Torpedo bats. :lolol:

More moves! Bae is down in the minors. I can not imagine we will see him in a Pirate uniform again unless he suddenly turns into the clone of Willie Mays. Delay, who had been DFAed, was traded to the Braves, who are hard up for catchers-and they would have to be. Didn’t hear what the Pirates got back but not much I would think.
They got an outfielder from the Mets, Andy Carnivorous or something, who I know nothing about other than he would have to be better than Bae. I read that he was out of options. The Mets couldn’t send him to AAA.
If they keep incrementally improving the team, they might reach.500 in a few years.
Next the bullpen will have to be fixed. It has been atrocious so far. Maybe someone they already have will step up into the closer role.
Man I wish we had Dave Giusti and Ramon Hernandez right now.

Carnivorous actually ain’t bad. In only 42 plate appearances over the last two seasons, he has a 0.3 career WAR. He signed very young (guys from the Dominican can do that) and is still only 24, though the actual age of Latin ballplayers should be taken with a grain of salt.
Bae has a -0.5 career WAR over four years! So Carnivorous is a definite upgrade.

Ok. The leadoff hitter. The leadoff hitter is supposed to get on base via a walk or a base hit. So who do we have leading off? Suwinski. He's hitting something like .159 with 7 Ks in the last 8 at bats. The perfect lead off hitter for the buccos!

Grilled Cheese had some good years with the Bucs as did Joel Hanrahan (sp?). Too bad Valdez was a perv, he was pretty awesome.
