I realize it’s TMZ but.

 

Holy crap. Did you see that Bell did not even know he was being sued. So, she won because Bell never showed up to court.

That would be hell to wakeup to a TMZ article that says you just lost $25 million and you knew nothing about it

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. When a woman claims rape and sues for money instead of filing criminal charges my BS detector goes off.

When a woman claims rape years after the incident was supposed to occur my BS detector goes off.

False rape accusations do occur for monetary and political reasons, and they only make real accusations less believable.

 

It isn't that unusual for rape victims to speak up years later. It is a brutal thing for them to deal with. Sometimes, the statute of limitations don't allow a criminal charge, so a civil suit is all they can do.

 

The accusations could possibly be true, but I'd think the likelihood of them being false increases as time goes. There's a statute of limitations for a reason (to protect the innocent).

I realize rape is emotionally damaging and I do feel bad for the victims. Being falsely accused of sexual assault can also be damaging. It appears in the original post that Bell wasn't even given an opportunity to defend himself from the accusations. Somehow civil courts can try a person without even notifying him of the trial date and location.

I'm not saying Bell is innocent, but I do believe in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, and IMO Bell was not proven guilty if he wasn't given the opportunity to defend himself.

 

That’s not the reason for the statute.

 

Did they not notify him or was he not paying attention? Sometimes, people hide from such notifications thinking it will go away. Sure, those are stupid people, but it happens.

 

His people are saying that when they were claiming he was contacted, it wasn't him, because he was in another state



Also, I don't think there is a time limit on crimes against a 7 or 8 year old that may be different from state to state

I'm glad there is people out there like you, who understand. People do not realize 25% of women go to the cops. and out of the ones who go to the cops, 25% get some form of justice done (meaning a lot of them see the rapist just serve a night in jail and then get off).

it is hard to find police to actually investigate as well. I know women and seen stuff where a prick of a county did not even go to the crime scene to a girl who spent 24 hours in the hospital getting a full body CT scan and another half a day at the rape clinic and then they even found out she had drugs in her system and her ligaments in her feet were tore to where she could not walk for months. and it was thrown out for police not doing their job. and now that county is being sued, while her rapist will be able to walk free and continue to do this to other women.

I dare anyone who says non sense to go spend a day at the hospital and watch how many survivors come in, because truth is a ton of women are murdered after the rapist realizes what he did.

oh and @biggbunch68 and @LambertsDentist you need to go spend some time at a rape clinic and ask them how many cases they watch fall thru the cracks, and why they tell women from day one to go ahead and seek a legal team to sue the rapist, county and etc.
