Why wouldn’t we trade a late round pick for him, and trade Pickens for a 2nd? Kupp probably is a better fit with Metcalf! I read his guaranteed salary next season is $5 mil!

His salary for 2025 is $12.5 million. Trade for him, trade for his salary. That's not including roster bonuses and the like.
As for trading Pickens for a second? Two reasons- Chase Claypool, Martavis Bryant. Hell, I'll make it three. Antonio Brown. No one's throwing us a second for a player that, no matter how talented, Mike Tomlin is the only coach in the league who can reign him in. Three teams have gotten burned before, and the rest of the league took note.

Kupp is a short term option due to being 32 at the start of the year, has noticeably declined on the field, and hasn't played more than 12 games in a season since 2021 (33 out of 51 games played, 65%). He isn't really worth it in my opinion. If the plan was to draft a WR in the first round, then I could see Kupp being an option for a year or two to make us not have to rely on the rookie right away... but with the DK trade, we aren't spending that pick on a WR.

Also, GP is worth more than a second round pick. Why make our WR room worse, just to bring in a short term band aid and then use the capital we traded for to HOPEFULLY get a decent player to replace Pickens? I don't see it.

Save all of that until we sign a QB

The Rams have to trade him by tomorrow or pay the $5 million roster bonus.

SpoTrac says Kupps value is $6 million. Why trade for him and pay him double what his value?

Or draft one. I think we missed out on the starting caliber options. Russ and Rodgers are both going to be bottom of the barrel starters for 2025. Nothing more than a stop gap to keep us from drafting in the top 10 for another year.

No need, they’ll release him. If they are interested they can kick the tires on him then but I’m against trading GP.

People acting like he is AB. He’s a little immature and drama queen. You can deal with this guy for one more season while having one of the most dominating WR duo in the NFL.

I wonder if the Steelers are looking at other options? Trading for an unidentified QB? I am hoping so.

They aren’t getting a 2nd for Pickens. Kupp hasn’t been able to stay healthy for 3-4 years now. He’s nothing more than a name at this point. If the rams were high on him they would find a way to keep him.

Exactly. Some personalities in the Pittsburgh media are irrationally obsessed with the antics. Getting rid of Pickens is not addition by subtraction, especially on an offense has been pretty devoid of talent.

It makes no sense unless you are getting a treasure haul in picks. Someone wants to give us a first or 2nd and 4th for Pickens, sure, consider trading him. Otherwise use him along with DJ.

I also don't see the benefit to the Steelers signing Kupp, a 31 year old receiver that missed time last season with a high ankle sprain. Maybe on a cheap deal after they release him, but this team needs to get younger in general.

Careful, you're going to scare some people into thinking they re-signed Diontae. ;)

If Kupp had anything left the Rams would keep him. Just keep Pickens to play across from DK and let Austin and Roman Wilson be the 3-4 in whatever order.

Depends on who you ask. Sportrac (I believe) had Fields value around 7 million, he got double that guaranteed, nearly 3x contract value. No Kupp is not worth much, the insane owners and GM's are afraid to say no.
