For almost 20 years we knew exactly who our QB was going to be year in and year out. Just after 3 years past Ben's retirement we have marched out Pickett, Trubisky, Rudolph, Fields and Wilson. Now we are waiting to see if our next QB will be some washed up veteran or a journeyman career backup. How did this happen? We are becoming the freaking Browns.

People are fooling themselves if they don’t think Tomlin is driving the QB decision. Kaboly said no player is signed without Tomlins consent and you can be damn sure that is especially true for the QB position.

And unfortunately he is essentially a supreme court justice. He's there as long as he wants to be.

Not only are the Steelers getting Aaron, but he's using the Giants to up the cost. Good times.

The Pickett miss hurts badly. Domino effect.

To their credit, they pulled the plug on it quickly. They could have rode with Pickett for four years.

That whole deal was a mess and screams of "fanboy"
If Tomlin was the engineer of it, the GM should have had the backbone to say "not at this time, we have no plan going forward."
If the GM's engineered it, they get a 'S' for stupid.

I've got to admit, the game they are playing now is much like the game they played and lost re: 49er WR.
    I do have concerns.

Maybe they have a plan? I would figure they would be stockpiling picks if that is the case.
The teams I see as needy, are making some nice moves and not really hurting themselves in doing so.
If the Chargers pull off a good draft haul, that team is going to level up a couple notches.

Meanwhile, the Steelers appear rudderless. Good WR's but no one to throw it their way. Also lost half their 1/2 punch... though they can make that up pretty quick.

The Steelers appear rudderless right now because they’re holding their cap space to give Rodgers a stupid deal.

No, thankfully he didn't have to for his first 15 years.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I blame Ben for us being stuck with Tomlin. He became this legendary coach off of Bens arm, then Ben leaves and we're stuck.

At least Belichek was self aware enough to get out before he exposed himself as a fraud who lived soley off of Brady's blood. Tomlins hubris would never allow that. Nobody likes to hear themselves pontificate about their own genius, using their grandiloquent little sayings, quite like he does.

Would be on brand for a guy that has made 400 million over his career to squeeze out every penny instead of telling the club to put the money towards other positions so they can try and win a championship. Selflessness is not a Rodgers trait.

I believe Tomlin and Colbert were in lockstep with that one. Colbert wanted to leave the team in good standing and to set them up with a QB of the future. They must have felt they knew better than everyone else because he played next door. Tomlin would talk about how they would go and watch his games every chance they got.

I thank the universe everyday that they didn't. I don't know what would've happened had KP not asked to leave, but I still owe him a drink when he gets back to town.

Could well be true. Especially after they are finding that Wilson is a bit of a caner in the locker room too.
They had 11 months to define what to do this week.......

I think they had already made up their minds he wasnt the guy by bringing in Wilson. Pickett just gave them and easy out to remove a distraction.

Well, yes... but the contingency plans have been the problem afterwards. Its fine to pull the plug on him, but last year was the chance to move up and draft someone. We chose not to and with the failure of Wilson (and the mismanagement of the Fields situation), we are back in the QB conversation.

Ownership is too afraid to take risks. They play it uber safe and just hope it works out. Hindsight says we should have traded up for a McCarthy or Nix. Now we're deciding on Dart in the first or trading up in the 3rd for a McCord, Ewers, or Howard? Or do we roll this year and trade up next year? We're in a dire position due to mismanagement from the HC and Ownership and we are going to have to do something drastic to fix the QB situation and do it soon.

    I'm not Pickett basher.
I am quick to say that Pickett appeared to not have the Franchise values.
But I also know a LOT of that peripheral BS was just that, BS.
It was just a dreadful handling all the way around, the Steelers get a flat-out F in my book. In just keeping Matt Canada around was a complete joke.
    But that's all gone now.
The problem for me was how they saw the fix - Fields and Wilson.
Wilson is a locker room cancer and Fields just couldn't elevate his game.
I could see going with Fields. Of course the price was right when it came to Wilson but really he's the guy you want on the bench when your starter goes down.
The whole QB thing just galls me. :)
And behind the scenes, a lot of talking heads are saying 'Told ya."

Well, Antonio Brown's CTESPN, which has had accurate early information before, is saying that Rodgers signed with the Steelers for 2 years.

I am also of the understanding that Rogers and/or his agent arrived at the offices a while ago.
But I also stress, that it said to be so.... it is from that site also

In my opinion, it is negotiations, probably Aarons runners.

Edit: Updated - my guess it's actually Roger's people on site... maybe
