he has some decent stats for a fringe guy. wonder why he didn't see the field last year

47 games, 67 receptions for 764 yards, an 11.4-yard average, and 11 touchdowns

    6-8, 237lb

Don't we already have two TEs that we don't use?

    Replacement Knee for the Steelers???

I don't know how long Washington is going to be around the NFL with his knee problem. There is a reason that he and Trice dropped in the draft. Khan does like to pick guys that come to the team with injury problems. You get an A on draft day because it is such a value pick, but the injury problems eventually bite you in the ass.

    Khan's 2 drafts.
2023 Washington and Trice dropped because of injury history.
2024 Wilson and Wilson dropped because of injury history.

I know about the injury histories of those you mention, but what are you talking about with "replacement knee" and Washington's "knee problem" - especially in a thread about Parham?

I am saying that Parham will be a replacement for Washington when he starts to have knee problems again. Out with Washington's Knees and in with Parham's knees.

Steelers' Darnell Washington Shares The Truth About His Knee Issues
The Pittsburgh Steelers, when they drafted tight end Darnell Washington from Georgia in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft, faced concerns about his knee issues. These medical red flags were likely a factor in Washington's fall in the draft, allowing Pittsburgh to snag him as an exceptional value pick in the third round.

Steelers' Darnell Washington No Longer Considered A Steal: 'Not When I Saw His Knees'
Reader: "Last year you said Washington was a steal. Now after his first year, do you still feel that way?"

At some point I'll learn your language.

I understand the concern to a point, but Washington hasn't had any serious knee concerns for quite awhile (surgery to clean out some cartilage a few years ago) . There were even some that said concerns over his knees in the draft was overblown.

Still, it's not bad to have backup plans. Parham's a big dude that should be able to provide a big target and blocking ability should it be needed.

or there is this one brice.

having it scoped his freshman year is hardly a concern. the parham pickup is more of a big target help and a mccoyle pruitt replacement than anything else. washington was a steal. if they would only use him.

to me this is a move to open up the middle of the field for usage. we all know they use the middle sparingly. muth is a player but between washington and parham this gives them big targets that even if it's fields, he can throw to with little worry. more so than a slot receiver.

Another big boy like Washington. Maybe they are thinking 7 lineman might be able to give our QB some time.

The only former Charger TE I'd be interested in would be Kellen Winslow in his prime!

Why are you passing on Antonio Gates. He showed the world what a good Power Forward could do in the NFL. :)

Talk about finding value in an undrafted free agent.
Despite never having played college football, as many as 19 teams were believed to have contacted Gates about a tryout. Gates chose to work out first for the San Diego Chargers. Recognizing his potential, the Chargers immediately signed him to a contract as an undrafted free agent.
