I would think Fields will be signed somewhere shortly after FA starts March 12

I hope he brings enough ayahuasca for the whole class, because the only way we see a championship is if we mass hallucinate it.

No, not really. The Jets need to try something new. Rodgers is a prima-donna and Jets are dysfunction and have been well before Rodgers (so its not on Rodgers).

They want to move on, but make no mistake they'll be worse at QB next year without Rodgers.

Rodgers is a great 1 year, give it a go QB. I don't want any multi-year deal unless its some mutal option or no cap hit extra year, etc.

Rodgers right now at 41 is better than Wilson was this year. Is he elite? Not any more, but he's still above average.

I am not saying I am dying to sign Rodgers, but of ALL the options being presented, he is far and away the most palatable if the team wants to TRY and win a playoff game next December/January.

No to the Cousins, Flaccos, Wilsons, Winstons, Daltons and a BIG NO to trading for not much younger Stafford and having to give up precious draft assets, unless it can be done for 4ht round pick or later only of course.

I agree with the baggage, but many times a player with a strange late career distraction phase wants to get it together for one last go. I feel like this is the perfect time to try Rodgers for ONE year. Again, if Khan can find a good, young QB that is ready to start, cool, no issues, but absolutely no to all the veteran retreads being bandied about. Good grief, Rodgers at 41 is still 3 times better than the most recent versions of Winston,Cousins, Dalton and Wilson. Fields, he is a wildcat QB basically. He can't hit passes with any regularity. Can he ever figure out timing and touch? Maybe, but it's 4 years in to the experiement with no meaningful progression. If you sign Fields, you're punting on any meaningful passing attack, so get ready for stacked boxes and lots of RB hits in the backfield. Even if we had Saquon, he'd be lucky to get to 1000 yards in 17 games.

Sign Rodgers or trade for Stafford (on the cheap). DO NOT give up a 1st or a 2nd for a 37 year old QB, a couple of day 3 draft picks, okay, I can maybe get behind that thinking.

Also, drafting a QB this year is a must. Doesn't have to be round 1, but you have to keep taking shots at solid college QBs in rounds 2-5, at least until a frachise type falls into your lap in round 1 that is. They're too far back in draft to trade up and not have to give up like 3 day 1/2 draft picks and with all the team needs, they can't afford to do that for a shot at a "possible" franchise QB (weak QB draft, not Kenny Pickett pathetic, but pretty bad).

We need a good slogan for that. I thought about it for a minute, nothing really rhymes.

So maybe we can play off of Archibald, and say the Steelers are "Goin' bald!" :lolol:

Would it not be a kick in the teeth if we had the pick, then Grandpa Arch steps in like he did with Eli and say He is not going there.

I’m not excited with the idea of drafting the guy who is the son of the only Manning who didn’t play football ;)

The only problem with Arch Manning at this point, even if we implode (injuries or horrible QB play) in 2025, if we have top pick expect Mannings to say he doesn't want to play for the train-wreck Steelers with horrible coaching stuff, mediocre OL and skill players. The Steelers will be forced to trade the pick and outsmart themselves thinking they'll nab the next Ben at pick 6 or 8 or something and end up back-firing this time (luck only happens so often).

Arch has started like three games and people hyping him up to be the next John Elway can't miss prospect. It's a moot point because the Steelers are never going to be that bad to get a top five pick anytime soon.

From what I remember Cooper is the oldest and was actually highly touted as a WR prospect and was thought to have been the best athlete in the family, but something (may have been genetic) was discovered and if injured it could have had severe life altering circumstances. Mom and dad made the decision for him, no more football.

Had to look it up, my memory from 20 years ago was off a bit, but pretty close:

Born on March 6, 1974, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Manning is the first child of Archie and Olivia Manning. He played football at Isidore Newman School as a wide receiver, having a breakout season as a senior with his brother Peyton at quarterback.[4]

Manning was a highly ranked prospect out of high school and ended up committing to the University of Mississippi, Archie's and later his brother Eli's alma mater. When practices started in the summer before school, Manning felt some numbness in his fingers and toes, so he went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to be diagnosed.[5] There he was told that he had spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spine and pinching of the nerves.[4][6] Manning accepted the diagnosis and immediately ended his playing career.

The talk about Arch is of course that, just talk. We have no idea how he plays and where his ranking will be, but to get a shot at any QB in general you have to be in the top 5 spots, or having done your homework be in the top 10 or willing to move up to get your guy. Do i think we could be bad enough naturally to get in the top 12 draft positions, yes, because we play close enough in so many games we could have easily had only 6 or 7 wins this year, but we find a way to stay mediocre and stay near 20. It may be they actually get there guy, but under the current structure I'm not sure I trust them to develop whoever they find.

Rodgers from 10 years ago sure but at 41-years-old not so much.

And this point try em all!

I like Russ but it’s hard to wrap my mind around a Pitt QB that smaller than me, in this division! Whoa…

    Fields, uhhhh, no.

    Eagles backup Tanner McKee :hmm:
