Eli Manning 2 time Superbowl MVP didn't receive enough votes in his first year of eligibility. This years class only had 4 players voted in.
    Eric Allen
    Jared Allen
    Antonio Gates
    Sterling Sharpe

They treat 1st ballot entry as an elite honor. He'll get in at some point, along with the rest of the other 15 finalists. The fact that it took Gates 2 tries to get in shows you how high (or in his case ridiculous) of a bar they set for getting in on first ballot.

I wouldn't be that shocked if they make Ben wait an extra year.

The fact that neither Smith Sr. nor Tory Holt made it in tells me that Hines Ward is never getting in the HOF unfortunately. I would have gone to the induction for him for sure, but I don't think it's ever happening. He'll still be one, if not the top, of my favorite Steelers of all-time.

2x Super Bowl MVP should get you in immediately.

How many of them are there?

Brady has won 5, Mahomes and Montana 3, Bart Starr, Bradshaw and Eli 2 each. So only 5 other than Eli.

Look at the WR that did make it. Sterling Sharp. Only 8,134 yards receiving with 65 TDs.

Hines Ward: 12,083 yards receiving with 86 TDs.

Not sure how they could put Sterling Sharp in the Hall of Fame with those numbers. Sharp sets a low Bar for "Career" numbers for all WRs following him into the Hall of Fame. Hell, AB may now be eligible for the HOF.

Antonio Brown: 12,291 yards receiving with 83 TDs.

I’d be surprised if AB doesn’t get in at some point. He had a long year stretch of absolute dominance in the League and was unstoppable in his prime.

Ward had an incredible career but never hit those heights.

Took Swann 14 years of waiting to get in. Hines will get there eventually

Will we be having a party when another Steeler QB makes it? Russell Wilson;)

No way Russell is a first ballot guy but I do think his Seahawk days will get him in.

Snubbed is definitely the wrong word. Outside of his two Super Bowl MVPs, he has very little to make him a Hall of Famer, never mind a first ballot Hall of Famer. Only 1 time got a vote for OPOY, he finished 6th. 4 Pro Bowls in 16 years. No records.
He'll get in, because it's a Hall of Fame, not a Hall of Great. Mostly on name recognition and the stuff he did after he stopped playing.

I would ... Ben did so much more and had so many personal accolades during the season than Eli. And, the Hof are so disrespectful for only having 4 to make it in. We're gonna vote you in but not this year and we're not going to elect 5 just to prove a point

Interesting. I didn't realize Sharp's numbers were that low. Maybe there's hope yet.

Outside of his two Super Bowl MVPs, if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. How many players have won TWO Super Bowl MVPs?
When he retired he was in the seventh all-time in passing yards, seventh all-time in completions and seventh all-time in touchdowns. If his name wasn't Manning, he'd be in, plus he outplayed the GOAT in two Super Bowls upsetting the evil empire each time.

I think they are sorta extrapolating with Sharpe, due to his career being cut short due to a neck surgery. He was a three time All Pro, and five time pro bowler in 7 seasons. Not bad considering he played his first four seasons with Don Majkowski and Tomczak. Only the last three did he have Favre. Another 3-4 years with Favre and he probably would've had at least 4000 yards more. Also, his brother, a member and very relevant media member, has lobbied for him for years.

AB absolutely is a HOF'er. What hurts him is no SB appearances/wins, and his behavior, and legal issues. All those issues will need to be lost in time, like tears in rain, before he gets in.

But 5 of the 6 people in front of him were playing at the same time as him. In the five years since he's retired, he's now 11th. So for the time he played, he was pretty meh.
Changes to rules and philosophy have made huge passing totals. No one is going to argue that Matt Ryan and Phillip Rivers belong in the HoF, and they have better stats than Eli. And I disagree, if his name wasn't Manning, no one would even be having this discussion, because no one would really care.

Actually, I think the Ketchup makes it first, then mustard and perhaps the relish. Not sure Heinz Ward will ever be considered. That’s a bummer.

AB does have a Superbowl win as a Buc when they defeated the Chiefs. AB even had a TD in that game. But you are correct about his behavior that will eliminate him from ever being considered for the Hall.
