Sure would have been a huge upgrade as OC. But there was zero chance of that happening

I don’t think Mike Tomlin allows anyone on his staff to run things their way.

Chip Kelly will be a failure with the Raiders.

He's a college OC not much success in the NFL. The Raiders paid him 6 million a year so you're right there was zero chance of it happening with the Steelers.

Chip Kelly ran a gadget offense last time he was in the NFL. He was trying to run 100 offensive plays a game. Like AAU basketball.

Yeah our offense is very good. Our coordinators are top notch

It doesn't matter Kelly isn't worth 6 million a year, the Steelers don't even know who their QB will be.

Arthur Smith has had success as an NFL offensive coordinator. Kelly has not.

Yeah I'm seeing those successes. Maybe it's time to look somewhere else for coaches. Our success rate on that lately has been pretty poor

I’m desperate to see a win.
Now I have to wait until the Hell Unleashed tour in December probably.

I'm good with Arthur Smith getting another year. You can't flip everything around after following a complete buffoon in just a single season in my opinion. Heck the first half of the season was probably spent trying to re-educate the players to not eat the crayons after a couple years under Matt Canada.

I have gone back and forth on the idea of Arthur Smith and do think he should get another year to establish his system. I don’t necessarily love the idea of turning over new coaches after 1 year stints.

I don’t like Kelly’s offense. Up tempo, focused on volume of plays, using a simplified and streamlined playbook.

Us fans already get upset about a vanilla offense. Not sure it gets better with ol’ Chip.

how many pitches to the outside on 1st down did we see? We really hit the middle of the field on passing as well. We had a horrible offense with at least a serviceable veteran QB. He's not going to get better

Lack of MOF has been an issue for years on this team. I believe that comes from Tomlin from wanting to play it safe.

Also Wilson is known for not throwing over the middle, it’s believed his height is an issue. Someone would have to go look at the tape but I wouldnt be surprised to find that when he does throw to that portion of the field he is either on the move or steps up in the pocket.

I give Smith a pass for his first year, he had a QB that struggles passing the ball and then went to a QB whos best days are far behind him. Add to that he had only one legit WR and a patchwork line, I’m not going to hold his first season against him.

We did get to see the offense operate really well during that three game stretch that Wilson was playing good.

He just won the national championship with Ohio State. He has been getting a ton of cash recently.

Name the QBs currently in the NFL that can say in the past 2 seasons they've beaten:
Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrows, Pat Mahommes, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert and Jordan Love.

    Answer: Russell Wilson

Vs Jameis Winston was a snow game: Russ went 21-27, 270 yards, 1 TD in the snow. Steelers defense let them down in the 4th quarter. Not Russ's fault.
Vs Baily Zappe, Russ had the lead and the Broncos let Zappe complete 76% of his passes for 256yards, 2 TDs and a game winning score. Not Russ's fault.
Vs Zach Wilson, Russ clearly outplayed Zach as Russ threw for 2 TDs and Zach Wilson didn't throw a TD and only threw an interception. Breece Hall's 177 rush yards against Denver's defense is what beat Denver that game. Not Zach Wilson and his interception.
Vs. Sam Howell, Russ threw for 308 yard, 3TDs, had 6 carries for 56 yards and scored 33pts. Not his fault Denver was beat 35-33. (Again this is a bad Broncos team we're talking about)
Vs Garopollo, again this is Russ quarterbacking a bad Broncos Team, who were 0-1 at the time and they lost 17-16.

Russ wasn't outplayed in any of those games. But the Broncos were a bad team so Russ get's credited for the loss.

He brought too much of his old guys in with him. I was wary of that from the start.

He needs to show he can adapt and run an offense with the tools he has and innovate a little. Nothing was surprising from this offense, they would line up tight and try to run inside or run to the boundaries out of Jumbo. I thought we'd see the last of the single back running up the middle when he came in, sadly we did not. Pickens needs to be catching more slants as he's shown he can break those for big gains.
