No not Roman Gabriel. The kid from Oregon. I'm thinking if he's there in round 2 he may be the pick

He was clocked at throwing the football at 75 mph during the Senior Bowl and after playing 6 years in college, he holds most of the NCAA passing records. But he is only 5'10" and will turn 25 later this year. Those things will scare away a lot of teams.

But, does he have "it"? Wilson is only 5'11", Kyler Murray is 5'10" Flutie was 5'10" (maybe) Brees is 6'. Mike Vick is 6'. All have/had pretty good careers. Height isn't everything. Ryan Leaf is 6'5". As for age, 24 years old coming out of college? That's 2 less years of being hit by NFL defenses. Brady and Blanda played pretty well in their 40s. Wilson and Rodgers are above average as they age. If this guy has IT, why not take him and get 10+ good years.

I'm just saying what the mock drafts are projecting for him. One thing for sure he has been really good his entire career.

I don't know anything about the college game. I just know there are a few good college QBs who couldn't make it in the NFL, Tebow, Manziell, Leaf and there are a few "scrubs" who did pretty well, Montana, Brady, Purdy........

I don't know how they measure that throw speed, but I would bet my beans that Gabriels arm isn't close to Milton's, let alone 20% more powerful(Milton = 62) I've watched him throw a lot of footballs and the impression that he has a big arm has never occurred to me, or any of the scouting reports I've read recently. I guess he can throw it 100 yards? :lolol:

get two. howard and dart. gabriel and dart. gabriel and howard. whichever. may the best player win and then the other is the backup. i'm not buying that this QB class is that bad. there are some good players in this one. for a team in need of one why wait? start the process.

Milton and Josh Allen were tied for record of fastest throw until Gabriel's fastball. Throwing fast sometimes doesn't equate to throwing far. My cousin was clocked throwing a baseball by the scouts at 92 but I could throw a baseball a lot further than him even though I had nowhere near his velocity.

Gabriel will be available much later than round 2. He can throw hard, but he's got a lot to overcome. He's not a fantastic athlete for a guy of his size, and will have to rely a lot on his legs to shift throwing points so that he can throw it over the middle. He has some nice tools, but at his age and size, I am not so sure that a path to a functional NFL starter exists.

Generally speaking, the faster you throw something, the farther you throw something. The only thing that changes that is the angle of launch. That's physics. Distance is all about velocity and launch angle vs gravity. You would also factor in weight and air resistance if they weren't both throwing the same object. Imagine me saying that I could throw a baseball 100 mph, but can only throw it 50 ft. It doesn't work that way. Nobody who throws 70 mph is throwing a ball farther than than someone throwing at 100 mph, unless their launch angle is 10 degrees.

So, if you extrapolate Gabriels 75 mph vs Miltons 62 mph, that's 20% faster. If Milton was throwing damn near 80 yards at the combine, that means Gabriel, throwing at a similar angle, should be pushing 100. Thats physics. And it's also ridiculous to think that he has that kind of arm. Nobody does. Pat Mahomes throwing into a wall, as hard as he could, with zero regard for accuracy, hit 61 mph. And, I'm expected to believe Dillon Gabriel can hit 75 mph on a touch throw? :lolol:

Somebody did some math on that throw, factoring in weight and air resistance, and said that it equates to a fastball of almost 130 mph. That seems reasonable.

I don't know I wasn't at the Senior Bowl practice. All I know is that was the big news on the NFL Network about Gabriel breaking the record formerly set by Allen and Milton.

Gabriel would need to go to a team that could develop him, aka
Purdy situation. Do you see any other NFL team besides LA Rams and SF
    that may make him successful?

I don't know. From what i'm reading it’s a completely different measurement. Josh Allen's combine throw measures impact speed(62) throwing to the impact wall, Senior bowl measures the speed as it's released by the hand. Which I guess wouldn't factor drag over distance. Milroe beat his number, the next day, like 75.5.

With Carroll going to Vegas, maybe? He developed Wilson.

That's a good observation. With Carroll and Chip Kelly with the Raiders, Gabriel could run the same system that Wilson did in Seattle.
