Ending as in 'now', or after the 25 season? if now, I know we move slow, but with teams already hiring new HC's and staff that follow, would it not be prudent to at least start the ball rolling and make the decisions necessary to interview and get the best?

No, legitimate wisdom would see the video destruction of out line, look at the amount of resources put into the line via FA and draft, see other guys who have left become valuable assets to their new teams, give some credence to injuries, but overall make the determination that for years our line has sucked. Hmm what is the answer, what is the reason for this? Then fire some asshats and go to work fixing the issue, but why to the logical thing.

the system and matching the players to it has a little to do with it. we used to have this problem when Dick LeBeau was here. is it the coach? the system? he pounded the table for a few years saying they had to draft the players that fit the scheme they were desiring him to implement. he said we can't keep bringing in zone corners and expecting them to play man coverage. they were trending towards more man at that time saying his zone blitzing scheme was getting outdated. well they dumped DLB and it didn't improve much.

i have a feeling it's going on here as well with the o-line. meyer is an outside zone guy. so is smith to an extent. do the players we drafted fit what they want to do? just because they are top rated on the draft big board doesn't mean they fit every scheme. nor do the running backs. it's not always a one size fits all.

they could go after munchak but he's more of a power run type coach. is that something that smith and MT want to change? then don't hire munch. would our new players on the line be able to run what the new guy is teaching? don't put the cart before the horse.

The #Ravens hired former #Colts HC Chuck Pagano, adding him to their already large defensive staff.

Baltimore now has 12 listed defensive assistants, including an ex head coach and an ex four-time DC. The Steelers list seven. None of them has ever held a higher position than their current one.

With all of those defensive coaches and a two-time MVP at QB the Ravens still can't get to the Super Bowl .

One team going all-in to win, the other running it back as cheaply as possible with bum coaches.

I think they know its a system/coaching problem. Only other thing i can think of as to why he hasn't been let go is the 55 million hes still owed. Maybe after next season if things continue to go south, they’ll be much more likely to let him go. They kept Canada around longer than they shouldve, (for money) i think the same thing could be happening here.

Flanders isn't interested in winning, only money. He has all the passion of a dead fish, you can say it, an corpo CEO going through the motions. No fire, no passion whatsoever.

I am not sure they are sold on it being a system or coaching problem. They didn't HAVE to sign Tomlin to a contract extension after 2023's season ended in yet another playoff blowout loss... but they chose to do so. It shows that they for some reason have high faith in our coaching staff, and rather are blaming the players/bad luck/etc. It is the same reason why they didn't fire Canada until it was too late, and are opting to take the safe/easy road and let two underperforming coaches in Austin and Meyer coach out their deals. There's something to be said for not overreacting and firing over a short stretch of time, but we're in a very long drought of playoff wins (and we've lost as both favorites and dogs during that span, home and away).

Cartainly, I would definitely agree that Tomlin is un-fireable after signing the deal that made him the 5th highest paid coach in the US regardless of sport. We tied ourselves to him for at least 2 of the 3 years on that deal. It's certainly a bad contract no matter what you think of Mike Tomlin. I think some of the coordinators/position coaches have to be looked at though. Teryl Austin makes less than $2 million a year and Meyer makes less than that... so it certainly can't be about the money. Its more about precedent and taking the safer/easier route like they always have.

It is either ownership doesn't care whether or not these guys live up to expectations, or their expectations for our guys are far lower than ours as fans. My gut feeling is that it is the latter of the two.

Is it honestly crazy to think JF couldn’t have a ceiling like Hurts? Hurts is good but not elite. Hes where he is because of how great the supporting cast is.

Hurts first season was some of the worst QB play I had ever seen. He turned it around but he also has very good coaching.

Fields has been through how many OC’s now and several HC’s as well.

The reason he is is because they run their system for him and his strengths not try to make him a drop back passer same with the Ravens and Lamar. Most teams change their system to the qb not try and make the qb fit their system. Pittsburgh is going to run the same systems both on offense and defense no matter the players and if they fit it or not.
