Could turn out to be the best QB draft since Bens. Jury still out on JJ and Penix but Daniels, Maye and Nix I think will all be great. Williams may be on the same arc as Lawrence, will have his moments but never achieving what he was projected to be.

What did Maye do this season to make you think he will be great? I’m not saying you are wrong but he didn’t impress me nearly as much as Daniels or Nix. Clearly he is on a much worse team. I think Caleb will be better with Ben Johnson.

If we bring back JF I really hope they take the handcuffs off the kid and let him play without being petrified of a turnover.

Are you kidding me? I think Maye will be the best of them. He had zero cast around him and still making eye popping plays.

AFAIK, Meyer is under contract for 25. You see something different?

Yea I didn’t watch many NE games but statistically he didn’t seem to be as eye popping I guess. Pats will be back soon if he is the best from this group.

MT will still go 9-8 at the minimum and I’m not sure the FO sees that as a failing season. The media actually treats it as another great accomplishment.

I think deep down Art 2 and Tomlin know that we can't compete with the top teams in the AFC, so they are quite satisfied with being in the next tier of teams that win 9 or 10 games and earn a playoff spot.

NE’s line was ranked dead last. Maye was under constant pressure and his ability to evade the rush and make big plays reminded me of Ben.

Yes, I think absolutely the Pats will be back in the mix and yet another team the Steelers have to get past.

Part of the limitation is how the roster has been allowed to develop.

We had need of WRs and QBs right when the pool of available talent for both positions was sparse.

Which would be a massive mistake if he is the one getting axed. Where ever he goes, Pro Bowls and All Pros follow in his wake. If there is someone to axe, start with Meyer.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. The owners are satisfied with mediocre and what we see is the result of feeling that way. We wind up with the leftovers. Either at the end of there careers which have now at QB or a bench sitter that needs to be trained and we all know we have no one to train them. I hate being a downer but with the results we are seeing how can anyone one feel differently.

Rooney and Tomlin set a goal of finishing the season at no less than 500. As long as this coaching staff reaches that or slightly above they will not make a coaching change unless sales ticket sales drop and they need a sacrificial lamb to send to slaughter. Even then, they would not bring in a top tier coach.

Rooney said he wanted to win in the playoffs, he didn't mention anything about finishing the season at no less than 500.

He wants to win with a coach that hasn't won in the playoffs since 2016 and doesn't want to make changes with either coordinator.
Sounds like ground hog day to me, or the definition of insanity.

Their problem is that they don't have to justify it. Nobody would have blamed them if they fired/traded him this year. Even the media (who is in LOVE with Tomlin) has been calling for a "change of scenery for both parties".

I don't think they are trying to "set Tomlin up to fail". First off, he's failed plenty on his own... he doesn't really need the extra help. He's surrounded himself with sub-par coordinators pretty much the entirety of the last decade. The more likely option is that ownership is making excuses for the coaching staff, essentially saying that it isn't the coach's fault that this team hasn't won anything relevant in almost a decade.

I agree, but with the players surrounding him, the injuries on the O line and subsequent inexperienced replacements, its not surprising the limit they had on the entire O. I have no illusions on how good JF can or will be, I do think with better surrounding cast and line he would be measurably better, I think the upside over Russ is in that alone. Is is SB worthy, well it really depends on the entire 53 and how JF would perform, doubtful, but the Eagles are there for a second time with Hurts. He is not elite, but gets the job done with excellent to elite guys around him.
