As long as they don’t roll with Wilson as the starter, I will be able to muster some excitement by the time the season starts.

Right now, excitement is in short supply.

The end of the season was disappointing but with free agency and the draft coming up I would bet the over on wins.

I agree...hard to be excited right now....but the off-season has not even started. Let's get into FA and draft before we decide to be excited or depressed.

He is too cheap to fire anyone still under contract so the only coaching changes will be anyone whose contract is up period. That’s what it boils down to so the stand is the standard which is don’t be below 500 and get blown out in the wildcard game if you make it. Teams who made the playoffs and actually won a game are changing coordinators but not Pittsburgh it would make him pay someone’s contract off.

Colin Cowherd was laughing about Rooney's press conference yesterday. He said the Steelers are the stalest team in the league, nothing ever changes, they're not among the best teams and they're not among the worst. They need to change their name to the Stalers according to him. He showed a graphic of the new Steeler helmet with a stale slice of bread for the logo.

Might want to wait and see how the roster looks before assuming anything

It probably also becomes a lot easier to use witty cliches describing your group's failure to perform.

Art II seems to have allowed the tradition of the organization's loyalty to its coaching staff (one I happen to respect) to cause a loss of urgency. This isn't about "fire everyone immediately, wash/rinse/repeat next year if they don't win a Super Bowl!" It's about putting specific goals in place and tracking your team's progress toward achieving them.

He first threw the gauntlet down on fixing the running game years ago. Aside from committing a marked increase in draft capital to the offensive line the past two drafts, there's been no real progress. Last year he said it was time to win a playoff game, and his team answers with a five-game losing streak - three of which being double-digit losses - to close out the season. At some point accountability needs to enter the picture, and it starts with him.

When he puts a goal out there with the fans and the team proceeds to flail about with it over the next two or three seasons, the fans see it, and it's not a good look. That can trickle down to the rest of the organization. But if he's also saying he sees no solutions with trying to add to the assistant coaching staff - which has evolved over the years and often been an area of weakness with Tomlin - I fear the game may have passed him by.

If you are in need of getting clicks, just say something about the Steelers on your show/pod cast/etc...

    Who can argue with that?

The Steelers these days remind me of Theoden before Gandalf casts out Saruman.

No one can argue. It may be a bit humorous, but I'd actually be on-board with the change. I am serious. At least it would give us a reason to chuckle every week when announcers are laughing about the Stalers.

In 2026 we can add some green to the bread logo on the helmet. Some good old mold. Stale bread, growing moldy. The Standard is the Standard!

    Viva La Tomlin!

We don't live in our fears, it's just reality now.

We all knew that there wouldn’t be big changes to the staff. At a minimum I would like to see Meyer gone and a proven Oline coach added, and a new senior defensive assistant like they did with Flores two years ago. They really struggled to get pressure on the QB this year.

Im not as pessimistic as others about 2025. I think Khan and Weidl have done a good job so far and the roster in 2025 will hopefully be better than 2024. It takes time to build a team. The roster was in a really bad place when Colbert retired, leaving Kenny as his parting gift.

That said, I don’t think you can get to a SB with this coaching staff unless they win the QB lottery and draft the next TB12

The same Cowherd that was talking about QBs on his show and included Dwayne Haskins in the conversation after he died .

Everything Cowherd has been saying about the Steelers over the past few months has been correct. Tomlin and his staff can't get the O line right. Tomlin and his staff can't get the QB right. Tomlin and his defense is stagnant, predictable and easy for the better NFL offenses to exploit.

You don't build the OL overnight they have been investing high draft picks the last two years.

The problem isn't free agency and draft, the problem is coaching and schemes. They may want to sign Tee Higgins, but if Higgins asks how are you getting me the ball, what will the Steelers tell them - If Fields throws is within 20 yards of you, you're the target?
