I would love to see Fields stay and Wilson walk. I think there is more upside to Fields. Going with an older QB like Wilson or Aaron Rodgers feels like just a rental. While having that rental may keep us above .500, it will not produce a championship season. I would rather run with Fields and if we have a losing season, so be it. Get the pieces around him that can make him successful. If he isn't successful then drafting the right franchise QB is adding the missing piece. That's how I felt about drafting Pickett as well. He wasn't going to be the savior. Build the line add the supporting cast around him and then hopefully he would have succeeded.

I keep reading that Wilson wants to play with Carrol in Vegas and probably will. I think Fields will be our QB#1 and we will sign a veteran (Brissett?) and draft a QB3.

I also hear that Fields and Dalton do not get a long so that will probably not happen.

I am also hearing that Fields is not a good QB, lol.

C'Mon guys with him, the Steelers are going nowhere.

It’s not like they have a lot of options. If it’s between Fields and Wilson it’s Fields all the way. He’s 10 years younger and at least there is a smidgen of upside.

If the only upside is age, that is not a reason to keep him.
He can't pass the ball .
Ok , sign him for like 5 million I guess and when he stinks put in someone else .

That's funny, the Steelers paid their QBs basically nothing last year and still were terrible. That is just sad.

If age were the only reason it would still be enough reason.

Well isn't there literally hundreds of QB's out there younger than Wilson ?

Do they play in the NFL?? Outside of Darnold there isn’t anyone better than Fields and Steelers likely wont pursue him.

‘they’re not going anywhere regardless of QB, so chances are they will just go the cheapest route.

Fields or no Fields, Steelers are on the road to nowhere anyway. Steelers are the AFC version of the Cowboys, except we are not overpaying for a QB..... yet.

Do you think Sam Darnold would want to play with the Steelers? Going from Vikings offense to Steelers offense is like going from a 2025 Mercedes GLA to a 1984 Chevy Chevette.

Personally speaking I don’t like either QBs :( but what other options are there. Unless they go full rebuild. I can’t see them doing that.

Recently that is how it has broken, but I don't think that means that round 2 is a no-go for QB's. There are probably only 2 (maybe 3) first round talents in the draft this year. There are quite a few second day talents. QB needy teams tend to draft in the top half of the draft. I think this year is a pretty good shot that one or more QB's get slotted in the second. Dart, Ewers, Milroe, Howard, McCord, Leonard. Not saying they all are round 2 talents, but teams that don't like/miss out on Ward and Sanders might like to take a shot on one of those guys in the second round. I get that the 5th year option obviously makes a lot of sense, but if you get it right, these guys all end up getting extended before the option anyways.

Last year's class was top heavy (6 in the first 12 picks, no others taken until R5), and the Pickett year was similar because the class was viewed as a really poor one. But Levis, Trask, Hurts, Lock, Kizer, Hackenburg, Carr and Garroppolo have all been taken in the second round the past 10 years. I'd probably bet that one or two go in round 2 this year.

We probably should just sign Josh Allen on the cheap and roll with that....

Good QB's typically don't hit the market. The good ones that do either are in their mid 30's or had something wrong with them early in their development, only to move to a good situation and succeed later.

The only way we fix the QB position is if we roll with Fields and he somehow develops into a Jalen Hurts type player over the next two years, or if we draft someone that turns out to be a stud. There are really no other options. We should have taken a shot on Baker Mayfield when we had the chance, but that one slipped through the cracks (and was far from a guarantee to work out).

If the money is right, why not? Worse offenses than ours have quarterbacks too.

Fans always do this, impart their emotions onto players. He’ll go where the money takes him but as I said, they probably won’t pursue him anyway.

It's the damn truth. What do the Steelers have to offer? A talented, but erratic and inconsistent Pickens at WR. TE Freiermuth who choked badly with drops at crucial times in the last 2 games... which ended up being losses. And those players are our best weapons! An offensive line that ranks among the worst in the NFL. This is not emotion.... it's truth, facts, reality, etc.

We could probably have a 9-8 winning season and a first round playoff loss

that may be the case with two offers near identical but if the Steelers have an offer for significant more money thats where the player will go. And that is the truth, facts and reality.

I would have put him in after we lost the first 3 of 5 losses. And as far as us getting a franchise QB that is a pipe dream. Front office waits to long. They over think things.
