Told Ahmad Bradshaw getting physical from Steelers docs today. All checks out, they will try to sign him. Hearing not huge market for the RB

I personally see this as a post draft signing only. If we get someone in the draft we like, then maybe we pass, but he is a good fall back plan. It appears THIS is the offseason the Steelers have decided to start the gutting and the turnover to a new roster. Out with the old, in with the new. IMO, next year we may see it once again with guys like Taylor, Keisel, Clark, and Troy all hitting the road on D.

Sounds like the meeting went well. I like this signing because it gives us a legitimate starter for maybe 2-3 seasons... and we could still take a rookie with high upside that might not be ready yet. Bradshaw is a true 3 down back.

If the team feels comfortable with his medical issues/etc...and he can get through the year without any problems. I wouldn't mind him if theres not another vet option out there thats any better. Obviously it should be a small money contract for a year or 2. But if they did sign him before the draft and someone they like falls to them they should not hesitate to take them. And work them in with Bradshaw (so he doesnt carry the whole load/etc). I'd be fine with that. I'm just slightly weary of his injuries/etc though...

Adam Schefter just tweeted that Bradshaw left Pittsburgh without a deal, but the Steelers are leaving the lines of communication open whatever that means.

It probably means that he isn't 100% healthy yet.

I agree. It probably means he's not healthy but they want him to come back when the foot fully heals.

Not even close. He played every game and ran for 1015 yards last year with these problems pre surgery. He's one of the toughest guys in the NFL. We can use that draft pick elsewhere if we sign Bradshaw.

He'll be back in a few weeks. I'm guessing right after the draft.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent Ahmad Bradshaw will visit the Steelers again "in a few weeks" after he left without a contract on Thursday.
The Steelers clearly saw something they didn't like in Bradshaw's physical, but want to review his progress from his latest foot operation in a few weeks. Bradshaw could still end up as the Steelers' replacement for Rashard Mendenhall, but it's going to take some time. The fact that Bradshaw wasn't healthy enough to sign on Thursday means he might hold off on making any more visits for the foreseeable future. Mar 29 - 8:32 AM

Also look at the guys/ Bradshaw's left foot , the walking boot is still on, that's what the steelers are probably waiting for to come off.. Maybe the boot comes off in a few weeks then he'll get another workout

I`m really unsure what i think about this one...
On one hand, we damn sure need a proven rb, and I`ve liked what I`ve seen of Bradshaw when he was healthy.
For that matter, he has seemed to do allright, even playing thru the injury, although I haven`t watched him that closely, myself. Just going on what I have read.
On the other hand, we sure seem to be scraping the bottom of the free-agency barrel, looking at guys like him and Beanie Wells, who can`t seem to stay healthy, either...
I understand that is all we can afford, and given the choice, I would gamble on Bradshaw over Wells...
I guess the question would be, is taking him gonna prevent us from drafting someone with more potential, or stop us from improving? I doubt it, so, as long as the medical staff feels comfortable with his foot injury, why not sign him for a year, and go from there?
The only thing that really worries me, is that no other teams seem to be willing to do that. Maybe they just aren`t as desperate for rb`s as we are?

I'm still pretty interested in Bradshaw. The guy plays hard and is a winner. Hopefully our medical guys will see what they need to see to be comfortable in a few weeks.

it would be nice to have a healthy guy to carry the rock. first down into the middle of the line. second down into the middle of the line. third and long, he would come off the field anyway i guess for five wide. or at the goaline five wide.:smiley1::cool:

I think with all of the foot area injuries to Ben, Pouncey and Sanders, (other than T-Rex Ryan), I think the steelers have become experts in the area.

Yeah, they are. I don't think anyone will over pay for him though, so hopefully we won't be beat out purely from a financial aspect. I think for the most part it will come down to what team he likes best and gives him the best chance to win. The Steelers organization is very much like the Giants so hopefully that carries a lot of weight with him.

Not sure we should be interested in a guy with 3 surgeries in the same foot, with the latest to replace a screw with a larger one.
