If you're gonna do that, you may as well trade for Joe Milton. He's a little younger, a physical freak, and looked really good in his 1 NFL start. We have over 20 starts to assess Levis, and he has been terrible.

Word is they are open to trading him. They spent a 6th, and a year of development. Don't know if a 4th would do it?

Heck no ... he's not worth anywhere near that amount. I'd rather struggle with fields before I would throw away money like that. When did we become the browns or raiders?!

About your attention span I am sure. Everything is a rant when it doesn’t prop up your great wisdom of post I am sure but hey sure you would be a fit on Tomlins staff if you ever need a new job

Yeah, it was a bit hyperbolic, but I'm not sure that Cousins is a downgrade from Russ. Neither are very good at this point.

To be fair, I'm interested in neither...

Well, last I checked 4-2 is better than 6-6. Took care of the ball better, performed better in the red zone... In lots of areas he did.

That last comment seemed like a dig at Wilson ;) was it not? lol

There have been high highs and low lows every season for the past few years with Tomlin. They always find a way to be right at that .500 mark. Obviously there is a lot of offseason ahead of us before we get a sense of who is actually on the roster to start the year... but this team is just far too talented to be a 6 win team. The Panthers were essentially without talent on their roster at all and won 5 games. The Jets team was absolutely awful and won 5 games.... We would have to have some serious injury problems to be even close to a 6 win team. I think we can find a way to have a losing season if we have a bit of bad luck, but I expect the roster to be far too talented to suck that badly.

LOL. I think this was when everyone was getting on board with the Mike Tomlin for Coach of the Year train. :)

Did you watch the last 5 games if the season? They lack chemistry, communication and flat out quit. It's not a talent, or lack of talent issue; it's the inability to function as a unit. Compound the fact that the fan base has turnt on the franchise will equate to the team being booed at the first sign of trouble and will be relentless. Once the fans turn up the heat, this locker room is going to crumble from within.

I agree, “talks” is not the same as negotiating a contract. I didn’t hear Wilson’s comments which is exactly why I was warning about Saunders. Seems to be his thing.

Wilson had a good three game stretch where he outperformed Fields. The last 6 games there was no difference except that the team could have benefitted from Fields youth and athleticism behind a porous oline.

He was accurate here. The interview came from Pat McAfee.

Russ didnt say anything about a contract, he just said we started talking, yes?

The contract was added by Saunders. That was my understanding of it anyway.

Makes sense, none of the Qb’s in the upcoming draft impress me, so go with Wilson and maybe a FA pickup, and look forward to the 26 draft for a Qb.

Fields is not sticking around if Wilson signs, imo. Hes not the answer anyway so no big deal.

We started 2-6 Kenny's rookie year.... Plus nothing from this year carries over to next. Clean slate. I doubt there is much lingering from 2024 next year. Idk.

There are lots of ways that the season could turn out, but 2025's team (should be) more talented than the last couple of teams and we had 9-10 win finishes. I know Tomlin's streak of non-losing seasons will end eventually, but I don't think it is a guarantee that it is next year's team. I'll hold off judgement on the team's talent level until FA and the draft are over, until then any speculation is just wildly underinformed.

I know you are not a fan of Noah, but Noah believes that Russell was talking about his season exit interview that all Steelers went through at the end of the season. And there were no further contract negotiations with the Steelers front office.

He didn't talk about a contract; it was 'we started to talk a little bit.'
    https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/2...start-contract-talks-with-russell-wilson.html

The link to the video is in the article as well. I take it as just preliminary conversation, as the team is obviously going to need a QB not named Skylar Thompson next season. If we're going to try reading some tea leaves I'm looking at the talk about his relationship with Tomlin, how he was the first to call Russ, etc.

Tomlin's stubborn, and if he gets locked in on somebody he tends to get more emotional than practical with his thinking.
