I’m not so sure acquiring Jackson stops you from taking a guy like Mitchel. Think they were going oline all the way. They had a mandate of fixing the line and Fautanu was too good to pass up.

Getting Jackson for Johnson was a great trade

We got a starter for nothing

So long story short regarding WRs?!

Upgrade the position. Both Khan and Weidl went hard on Offensive Lineman last Offseason. Expect them to do the same for WRs and CBs this off-season.

Im thinking Weidl is going to turn his attention to the defensive line. Might be out first rd pick.

That was my suspicion as well. That said, WR needs to be attacked as well. Either Chris Godwin or Tee Higgins would work. I'd imagine though that Godwin is a bit more obtainable.

Plenty of great IDL players in the class.

I would rather go after Davante Adams on maybe a two year deal over Godwin, then draft another receiver.

Adams is up there in age though. Never mind that, would Adams even want to be there despite loving Tomlin?! This Offensive Scheme wouldn't take full advantage of his skillset set. This is also assuming Arthur Smith is still here mind you.

Sneaky bastards. He can’t play for them again this season. They did that for comp picks.

I agree, but honestly I only see 2 wr's that have 1st rd value right now(Hunter, and McMillan). The value is in the 2nd. I don't love Burden, or Bond @21, especially when considering their sizes, and overall production. I'm interested to see how Egbuka tests.

Matthew Golden is a name to keep an eye on.

That's what I was thinking. Problem for them is I don't know who next season is going to tolerate his BS enough that his production qualifies for much.

All the more reason I suspect that WR is still the top priority for this IDL Class is rich with both talent and depth everywhere literally. I still think that IDL could be in play for Round 1 for the Steelers, under Khan, have now known been to iron out as many possible glaring holes before the draft; another stop gap at corner in Donte Jackson this past season being one of them.

However, I just dont forsee a scenario in which there is an IDL available for trade. WR maybe but Godwin and Higgins are the top two names at the moment.

I think Tomlin always thinks he can help these young men , not sure if that's true . AB was great until Burfict broke his brain with that earhole hit, he was going a little diva the year before. Claypool had talent but too immature to realize what his opportunity was, maybe his head swelled after that 4 TD game.
Pickens just seams like he is one sharp comment from a CB from losing his sh!t. He is so hot n cold, try or quit, he might be bi-polar. He has immense talent for catching contested balls but why is it he is not getting more separation.
I think Roman Wilson has some unique skills that fit perfectly to being a good slot receiver , but we don't throw to the middle of the field we haven't for a few years now.
Fields has zero touch on the ball to work well with quick slants or crossing routes and Russel Wilson won't see him.
Calvin Austin is just another in a long line of undersized speedy WR who never quite live up to the hype. It's like Tomlin always has to take a shot on a speedy little guy there's been a few over the years but none worth the effort to look them up, some eventually end up in the CFL where the field is so big they can survive and not get killed.
Over all I think it was a big mistake to go into this year with one real starter WR Pickens . Then when they got Williams they hardly ever used him , offering up lame excuses like he is not familiar with the playbook. Come on Man ! In Smiths offense how complicated does it look for a WR.

On the Williams front, one of the beat writers suspects Tomlin liked Jefferson whos playing time didn’t change much at all after acquiring Williams. He wonders if the front office and the coaching staff were on the same page about acquiring another WR. Tomlin had said he like the WR going into the season.

That could be part of it but I think a lot is probably due to players needing a season to fully get back to where they were pre ACL injuries.

Or it could be that Williams isn't much of a route runner at this stage of his career.
