Is Sean's career over? He was our heir-apparent at ILBer to replace foote this year. His injury delayed that. But has it been delayed or ended? We signed Foote to a three year deal. Every time I go to the depot I read we're brining in another FA LB for interviews. Let's also remember Sean's injury was terrible. Not only did he tear/rupture every ligament in his knee but he also reportedly damaged a certain important nerve. Seems like I read somewhere no player has returned to play after damaging that nerve.

Personally I hope not, not for us but for the kid.

First I am worried he is done, Second I do feel he had some promise...but Third...I was never ready to anoint him as heir apparent to anything other than beating Sly off the roster.

I thought he had a long way to go..and that was before the injury.

Yeah, I feel worse for him than us. Players at this level need to be elite. If he has any weakness due to a damaged nerve, he's done. Only hope is it can repair itself.

I'm no expert and didn't know much about him prior to the draft. If what I hear is true, that he was a tackling machine in college and had an High Football IQ to match his athleticism last year he would have gotten his feet wet while learning the system, the Steelers probably would have resigned foote to a 1 year deal as spence took over more of the reigns and next year the team would have been his, kinda like they did with Farrior/foote.

I think the team is bringing in more guys and such because they just dont know yet...as they've said. Right now things looks iffy...so they are bringing in more guys. I have a gut feeling 2013 is going to be a wash for him at least...beyond that we'll have to wait and see.

That's awesome. I wish Spence the best, but I wouldn't expect to see him until 2014 at the soonest.

How does that work with his contract? Can we just continue to stash him on IR? And does it still count as a year of service? Will he still become a free agent when he normally would have?

I sincerely hope so.......... his leg was all but amputated on the field... it would be nothing short of amazing if he can come back this season at a high level

is it mean or wrong to say
"with an amputated leg", because it really is "without" in a way
but, without an amputated leg is a pretty much With.
then, you throw foote in there ..

My head is spinning like Beetlejuice! LOL. I do hope Spence gets to come back though. I was excited about seeing what he could do. Isn't it weird that about this time last year we were all so pumped up because we had taken TWO offensive linemen and a ridiculously fast running back and a good quick linebacker but it wasn't long til all our enthusiasm was just shattered and bitten by the injury bug? Man what a difference a day makes.

Time will tell, if they choose an ILB in the draft I think it may answer your question.

Football career is over. Shame to when you are young and an injury takes you out before you really get a chance. If he loses 20 lbs though he could get into horse racing.

I think you're right. Spence was not a big guy anyway and relied totally on his speed and quickness. It is a shame. I was looking forward to seeing what he could do.
