Why TF did Arthur Smith allow Najee back on the field on our last drive.

AS soon as Najee was injured (concussed) I knew our offense would be better and we scored 10 straight points. 90% of QBs check it down to their pass catching, speedy RB. And what does Arthur Smith do.... allows slow, concussed Najee back in the game so Russ has no one to check it down to on the last potentially game winning drive. I knew the Steelers would lose as soon as Najee was in the game. And that's exactly what happened. Arthur Smith and George Pickens (dropped passes) let the Steelers down tonight. Steelers would have won without Najee on the field or an OC that was competent down the stretch. What an embarrassment to offensive coaching.

3rd and 4 and 1 and Arthur Smith can't call a play to get a first down.
George Pickens 3 targets 1 catch 0 yards.
Need a 1/2 inch and you put in your smallest RB instead of your 6'3 bruising RB.

Arthur Smith just doesn't get. I've seen enough from him.

Was Warren hurt? I got disgusted by Steelers and was only sporadically watching the game.

That was a really bad time to get Patterson his few plays. Wtf. Unless Warren was hurt?

It's been a bad time to give him a few plays all season, we learn nothing. If you want the prime example of player that is absolutely washed it's CP.

Najee is a terrible passing situation back. He doesn’t catch well and doesn’t go into vacant spots in coverage, so he gets tackled immediately if he catches out of backfield.

I remember when he was a rookie they were gushing over his one handed catches in training camp, what has happened?

I’m semi-ok with Naj being out there. Why bring the slowest person on the team out…ever?

    oh, and:

    5 rb tosses - 2 yards

Arthur, why is this play still in the playbook?

This game really appeared to be a contest between which of our coordinators could be more incompetent.

Austin lead with having a guy in his first start singled up on Jamar Chase with no safety help.

Smith, not to be outdone, said "I know this hasn't worked all year, but let's keep running the outside toss to Najee"

Don't think Smith is a good OC. Better then Canada but only a little. Sure not innovative or even have a good flow of the game. Or even a good game plan.

Actually this last game on a swing pass to Harris he went to a vacant spot about 7 to 8 yards deep behind the QB. I was wondering why he didn't go downfield more as it was open. As expected he got tackled for about a 5 yard loss. He may have been better receiver his rookie year but he has dropped more passes this year.

Is there anyone here other than @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 who still thinks the Steelers made a mistake by not using the 5th year option

My only real problem with them not picking him up is that it doesn't seem like they have a (valid) plan. What, trot out (an even slower) Patterson next year as your primary? Make Warren the only back?

My assumption, as naive as it might be, is that they have their eye on someone. Possibly in FA, but who that is I can't tell. Someone on here probably knows more about who's going to come available during the offseason.
