A brighter outlook on the cap then all the doom and gloom shows.

i read that and it doesn't change the fact we will owe ben alot of money when he's old and decrepid. we also have to replace the guys we are dropping in future years and the price won't go down. we will have to continue to eat dead money for several more years and alot of it.

The article jibes with my salary cap model, which goes through 2015. We will be up against the cap every year, and will need to make some tough decisions, but the situation is nowhere near dire straits.

Could be worse. One article mentions that Flacco's cap hit in the 4th year is $29M. :applaud:

Fans can relax about Ben's cap number next season, after this season Ben will have 2 years remaining on his contract and that is when the Steelers will rip up his curent contract and negotiate a new one with a lighter cap number. Remember, this is NOT A RESTRUCTURE, hence the cap relief. Ike will probably be waived and Kiesel will come off the books. escalating salaries areny nearly as big of a problem as replenishing talent. GO STEELERS

I'm not worried about it. This article shows things aren't as bleak as people like to make it out to be. Bens contract isn't going to hurt us at the end, we aren't going to work ourselves into cap oblivion, we'll position ourselves to be competitive like we do every year.

I'm more worried about a lack of talent than I am about cap space. Hopefully some of the young guys can take that next step, but until they do, I'm pretty nervous about this upcoming season
