After the first Hard Knocks, many were saying they now see what a great coach Tomlin is and how he motivates his players. A few weeks later, all the "fire Tomlin" posts have re-emerged.

And many are already lamenting the first round post-season loss, which is weeks away and may not happen. One more regular season game to go, and then wait to see what happens in the playoffs before getting too bent out of shape. Any given Sunday.

Yes, the Ravens and Chiefs games were bad, but those are two good teams and the Steelers got no breaks. A couple of plays go differently, and the whole season looks brighter.

The only thing you can count on is death, taxes, and the Steelers losing in the Playoffs. :)

TBH Hard Knocks made me like Tomlin as a person but I've been done with him as a HC for awhile. Also can't stomach HK's with what's been happening to us and I was so pumped for it.

NFL fans I live around are more NFC and you can tell they don't know much about the Steelers. All they see is Tomlin's record and they want him as their teams HC. From my experience talking with fans of other teams, Mike Tomlin is respected and they'd love having him as their HC.

I think Tomlin may be a bit like Buddy Ryan the past 7-8 years. The "great coach" moniker keeps being thrown around but a quick look at the playoff record says plain mediocre, more flash than substance.

After 18 years Tomlin’s era was coming to an end anyway. This three game meltdown is just an indication that the ending needs to happen sooner rather than later.

yeah the unexpected could happen and they could win a playoff game but Tomlin still needs to go.

A better coach could’ve gotten more out of Ben’s prime, i firmly believe that.

only naive people, classic FANS (Cheerleaders) , but not those that really know the game after 20-30 years..... the hard part of the schedule was ALWAYS coming and we BARELY beat the Commando's and Rats, while losing to 2 horrendous teams earlier in the year. We have WATCHED Tomlin coach (keep it close and find a way to win the end) and we have watched him hire less than esteemed coordinators, over the years.

i had stated that he is likeable and I can see why players come here as FA's and why players (some) want to play for him. HardKnocks shows that side of him

But - at the end of the day - the game is about Trophy's.....and we remain far far away.

Yeah! Who do you think you are, having hope?? Don't you know you're supposed to profess loyalty to your team while being the first to go on social media after a loss with, "I told you so! Fire Tomlin, the GM, the OC, DC, force that cheapskate Rooney to sell the team!" Harumph, harumph!

    Re-emerged?

I watched Hard Knocks and it didn't change my opinion of Tomlin. I watched Tomlin do a decent job with backup QBs in 2019 when Ben was on IR...and it didn't change my opinion of Tomlin. I watched the 2020 season and the Steelers go 11-0 before losing 3 of the last 4 and getting wiped out by Browns at home in the playoffs.... and it didn't change my opinion of Tomlin.

My opinion hasn't changed since the '16 and '17 playoff losses to Patriots and Jaguars. IMO, Steelers should have moved on from Tomlin after 2016... and it was blatantly obvious after 2017.

Most but at times when the Eagles swoon they wish they had Mike but as I said they don't follow the Steelers closely. I've heard this praise more then once, "He always keeps them in the hunt and gets them to the Playoffs".

I was done with Tomlin after Tim Tebow had his one and only career best game against us in the playoffs.

Yeah, that was a hard moment for me to swallow. I was already seeing too many red flags with him. I don't remember if i wanted him gone at that time or not, but if not I was definitely not drinking the Tomlin Kool-Aid anymore.

What we're seeing on this board right now is some things this team goes through every year, sometimes more than once per year. This team is like a rollercoaster ride. We look like a championship team at some points and at other teams, everything falls apart and our players are at each others throats. Rinse and repeat.

It's amazing the short memory so many have. Whatever happens in the playoffs, next year Tomlin will be lauded as an amazing coach and we will be thought of as en elite team. Then it will all fall apart. Then there will probably be some type of recovery. It's every year with this team. There's nothing steady and stable about Tomlin. What's amazing to me is the media never blames him for the downturns, but he gets tons of credit when we rise back up, only for the media to go silent on Tomlin after we lose in the playoffs (if we even make it).

I feel like the local Pittsburgh media has started to question him
More as of late. If we are to go 0-5 to end the season with a playoff loss rd 1 there will be many calling for his job.

Ultimately none of it matters if AR3 is good with mediocrity. Guy says he wants playoff wins but doesn’t do a damn thing about it. Talk is cheap.

There’s a very vocal contingency that has no interest in actually discussing football. Their goal is solely to disrupt any discussion about football and whine about a coach. It doesn’t matter which coach. We could replace the entire staff and front office and the same people will make the same posts. If you search you’ll find people claiming the game has passed DL by and he needs to be fired. Now those very same people clamor for him

Like many aging players, he doesn't want to call it a day.

To me, his system is stale. The staff he brings on board at times are head scratchers. Matt Canada I could never figure that hire out... just plain out a lazy hire.
18 years is way, way, waaaay over the normal expectancy.

Unlike many, I do like Tomlin but I do think he is stale in today's game. A change of scenery might work out well for him under a strong GM and good ownership.

    Ain’t that the truth

And we can all name them

I remember the board long ago having much more intelligent conversations

Now there is good conversation intertwined with excessive repetition and whining

A few have not had a new thought in years

And that’s not counting the look at me posts

I think it would help both sides also. We could get some fresh blood and urgency and we would have another team in the NFL to not have to worry about :lolol:
