On being the only Steelers RB to rush for over 1,000 in his first four seasons, despite what the haters say the Steelers did him wrong by not picking up his 5th year option.

1000 yards ain’t what it used to be.
I thought they should’ve gave him the 5th year option. Now I’m not so sure. His running style doesn’t fit whatever it is we’re trying to do on the Oline scheme.

I would say maybe 1200 yards for a RB is impressive--- not 1000 not anymore--- with 1 more game extra.

The Wide Zone Runs that Arthur Smith employs isn't suited for a Running Back like Najee Harris. For someone like Jaylen Warren?! Seems to fit hand in glove. That said, I do agree that the team should have picked up the 5th year on Najee.

However, as far as getting 1k yards in four straight seasons?! One has to go back to Chris Johnson from 2008 to 2011 to find the last time that had happened. That alone is pretty damn good. Being the first player in such a time to do so isn't something that shouldn't be slighted.

Now, is 1k yards what it used to be?! With a 17 game schedule?! No, it is not. That said though, to be that durable as a Running Back for four straight seasons and not have a competent Offensive Line in your first three seasons at that?! That is nothing short of exceptional.

In comparison?! Derrick Henry, a Hall of Fame bound Running Back, didn't have a 1k season until his third year. SaQuon did so in his first two seasons but was injury plagued. Even someone like Johnathan Taylor or J.K. Dobbins failed this mark after promising starts to their careers.

In short?! 1K rushing yards isn't much to brag about on its own. Doing so in consecutive seasons, with a poor Offensive Line?! That is worth celebrating over as a fan.

I’m becoming more certain that the Steelers knew what they were doing by not using the 5th

I stated before they probably tried to extend him and his value of himself was over inflated

    Whoop dee doo

Rocky got over a 100 yards in a season as a back up in a 14 game season

Not getting a 1000 is a failure now

As of this morning Najee wasn’t even in the top 10

Nobody said 1,000 yards is what it used to be but he has stayed healthy all four years, and he had to split carries the last three years with Warren.

4th consecutive 1000 yard season for Harris is pretty much as worthless as having non-losing regular seasons while not winning playoff games.

It's good to see Steelers excelling at useless stats.

I like Najee but not at what he's going to want. Also look at average person carry which for him was 4.0.

With that said, remaining healthy and consistent is important.

I think someone will overpay for him next year which I'm happy for him.

And despite that Najee still is, and has been, a below average NFL starting running back.

Not a hater, but Najee is average at best. He had 3 good games this year against terrible teams. He just squeaks over 1000 yards and his YPC is below league average.

He epitomizes a Tomlin roster…just good enough to be a nice player

Plenty of backups get over 100 yards in a season.

He's really not average though. He's solidly below average. There are easily 16 other starting RBs better than him.

Najee is nothing special and it was very stupid to take him in the 1st round.

Najee does one thing well, and that's run with power. He's a beast and hard to bring down once he gets going. The problem is he's slow to get going and he can't change directions well. He's average at best and his stats confirm it. His average per rush and yards per game are basically average. He's not a particularly good receiver out of the backfield and he's not the type to break open a game with a big play.

    Najee isn't hard to replace.

In all seriousness, Bleier did go over 1,000 yards in a 14-game season once, but he was not a backup. He started all 14 games. Did you forget that the Steelers were running two-back sets in the ‘70s?

And yes, every single RB above has more yards, more TDs or a better YPC than Najee. Najee has a lower YPC than EVERY back on that list.
