Next Gen Stats Insight for Chiefs-Steelers (via NFL Pro): Patrick Mahomes averaged his quickest time to throw of the season (2.34 seconds) and second quickest of his career against the Steelers, completing 20 of 24 pass attempts under 2.5 seconds for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Teams know how to beat a team that relies on pass rush - throw it quick to take advantage of a weak secondary. Easy-peasy. Not sure this D has an answer to that.

As much as I hate acknowledging it...Tom Brady did the same thing to the Steelers many times and to Seattle in the Super Bowl.

I wonder if Mahomes and the OC through film saw a certain look that allowed them to be so quick & efficient on the hot read.

This is an offensive league. Steelers need to get with the times and stop spending all the money on the defense. It does not work nowadays.

Brady himself alluded that tempo was the best way to defeat the Steelers Defense. It is made more apparent now that Championship Caliber Teams are capable of doing that easily sans Philly where they just bully the hell out of a team. Seeing todays results is no different.

Then again, seeing how bad this Defense has played the past three games isn't too shocking in it of itself.

Beating a dead horse we must man up and Blitz we cant play that soft coverage and we cant just rush 4.. As I have stated for years we need to invest in CB's who can actually play bump and run coverage ..Play inside out leverage and force WR'S to the sideline , stop giving up those quick slants and crossing routes for free make the Offense fight for the middle of the field passing game...

Well on top of it we do absolutely nothing to disrupt the timing allowing the receivers a free release coming out. Kelce runs right around turns around and is wide open. We are so afraid of the big play of the receiver juking a man coverage and getting beat for the big play we play way off too many times and if a QB is good enough you nickel and dime us all the way down the field. Brady had no ego and was patient and would keep throwing the ball to a guy when the DB was playing 5-10 yards off. Until we can stop GOOD teams from doing this we will never go far. How we cannot run a quick slant or a TE out like washington to box a defender and get three yards sitting in an open spot is beyond me. How come seemingly ever team can do this but we seemingly canot. its either a low percentage pass down the sideline or throw well before the sticks hoping for YAC.

how long Mahomes held the ball compared to Wilson - night and day. outside of the roughing passer on Sutton - didn't really touch Mahomes.

In addition to our defense not being able to stop quick hitting passes, you raise a good point about our offense not being able to do that. We have very few successful quick hitting plays - even our run plays take forever to develop. Slow schemes on both sides of the ball.

Teams have been doing this to us for a few yrs now... CJ Stroud and the Texans took it to us last season with this same strategy.... even Gardner Minshew did it to us when he was with the colts....
That's been the book on this defense for quite some time now...
This is a coaching failure of the highest order
