To Paraphrase Jackson Browne's song, "The Pretender" AKA "Ode to the Steeler season"

Off into the end of season strolls the Pretender

He knows all the fans hope and dreams

    Once again will end there

He’s about as good of a guarantee as you can get.

    "Are you there?

Say a prayer for The Pretenders.

Whose season started out so young and strong

    Only to surrender."

Unless they button up the coverages I can see Teryl being retired by the Steelers.

Was never a fan going back to his Cinci Days but drank the Cool Aid this year when they beat the Ravens.

I mean you can have a fantasy football team but there is a good blend of new blood mixed with experience on the line....the LBs and defensive ends.

I maybe in the minority but I thought the D played 60 minutes today. I dont get it except wipeout your entire scheme as you have nothing to lose at this point...esp with Cinci. SMH

Agree. Nothing about Fields play has me excited to bring him back. I have no idea what the FA options are. But I'm looking to FA for a bridge and draft one this upcoming draft or next year.

Oh-oh, yes, I'm the great pretender
    Pretending that I'm doing well
My need is such, I pretend too much
I'm lonely, but no one can tell
Oh-oh, yes, I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I played the game but to my real shame
You've left me to grieve all alone

I don’t think the Steelers are “pretenders”, But they aren’t over achievers like they seemed a few weeks ago. A very good, but not great D. A so-so offense, Russ starting to look worn down. This is what they are, a WC team.

I made the point regarding how Phillys line was what the Steelers aspire to be and got pushback from it. Today, that statement I made still holds up. Pittsburgh's Offensive Line has the talent but needs time to develop.

Troy Fautanu getting hurt did this entire Offensive Line no favors.

this is true but how many high picks have the steelers used on oline the last couple of years? how long has this been a problem? its either they need a coach or the scouts suck

As much as it pains me to say this....

    @HeinzMustard@HeinzMustard and @KnoxVegasSteel@KnoxVegasSteel?!

You two were right... all along.

Won't shock me if this turns out to be another one and done season either. Not wanting such to happen clearly (none of us do) but Pittsburgh stumbling into the playoffs again?!... something is amiss.

I would have to agree with this point as well.. Part of the problem is scheme and RB fit .. They still try to be a power running Team with zone style blockers ..If we are going to power then get power blockers and double Team and run PA off of it.... If we are going zone then get a faster zone RB and a zone read QB and run zone read RPO game..

Pickens was here for this game and they looked worse. Wilson is gonna make mistakes, it's what he does. If grandma had balls she'd be grandpa. If, if, if...

Nobody's "crying", they're pointing out the obvious turn of events and inevitable outcome.

    How were they correct.
One picked us to go 8-9, and the other 7-10. I would say they were wrong weeks ago

And your boy Pickens played today and was a nonfactor, all he did was pout and act like a whiny punk the whole game.
