They do need it. Buffalo isn't losing to NE. So KC will play their starters to keep the one seed in tact.

We had it all in front of us, win the game, win the division, it's that simple - we failed. Now the season starts to have the all-too familair taint of the on the road one and done playoff season.

A veteran, potential HOF vet QB cannot blow this game in this manner. But he did.

I forgave Philly, we had next to no shot there, wasn't even pissed off at all - this game? Nope, no chance.

We didn't lose because we got injuries prior to the game, or even during it, we lost because we lost the big "swing situations" - the fumble, and the pick six.

Wilson two turnovers killed them but missing three starters in the secondary hurt them too.

No doubt. And missing a DL starter.

I'm disappointed in how it worked out, but Russ put it on the line to try to score. It's hard to stay mad at that.

Fact still remains this team is much better than last years team. This is a real offense with a real QB and a real OC.

Better is better. Russel Wilson is a legitimate NFL QB. Arthur Smith is a legitimate NFL OC. Just because the previous duo was terrible doesn't change that.

What is a much more interesting conversation is how this year's version clinched a playoff spot with 5 weeks remaining. How this is a huge improvement over entering the final week needing to win AND have at least 1 other team lose just to make the playoffs. An apples to apples comparison shows one of these things is better than the other.

True but a round 1 loss is a round 1 loss.

I have a feeling if Steelers don't win a playoff game--- Tomlin-- will be ----FIRED--if not Rooney doesn't want to win.Now it comes down to Beating Chiefs and Bengals.

I could never see a scenario where Tomlin gets fired by the Rooney's. The Steeler organization would never do that. If they wanted him gone they'd make it look like he stepped down.

Teams have fired HC's who have made the Playoffs. I think for the Rooney's that seems to be good enough.

Say what you want about Mike but he get's wins with the players he has, just not the important games.

That is not going to happen. What I read recently (which may be beat writer speculation) is that they may loosen the purse strings on coaches under Tomlin if things don’t work out this year.

Unfortunately even if this were true he would just end up neutering them. His philosophy is so outdated and while he has regular season success it never translates to the top tier teams or come playoff time

Is it? When we had a franchise QB and star receivers, we used them. Unfortunately the defense was weak when the offense was at its strongest. And a few horrific 1st quarter no-shows by the entire team (I still cringe at the memories). But, it wasn’t offensive conservatism.

More like Ben told him to stay out of his way. How many times did our offense struggle until we went no huddle in the 3rd or 4th quarter with Ben “drawing plays in the dirt”

    As of today....

The 3rd seed would host the Chargers, Broncos @Bills, Ravens @Texans.
On paper round 2 would be Steelers @Bills, Ravens @Chiefs

The 5th seed would play at Texans, Chargers @Ravens, Broncos @Bills
On paper round 2 would be Steelers @Chiefs, Ravens @Bills

Using the 'assume the Steelers win the first round game', which scenario looks better to you?

Both scenarios being we win the wildcard round, adding in a division win makes the season great, whatever happens next.
