The Steelers did figure some things out offensively as the game went on, but the defense didn't give them enough opportunities. I'm not talking about turnovers. I'm talking about only getting the ball twice in the second half because the defense couldn't stop the Eagles. Harris's fumble was a killer and Tomlin shouldn't have punted down 14 in the fourth quarter, but they moved the ball better as the game went on. The common denominator in every loss this season has been a poor performance by the defense.

Agree for the most part. It didn't help that our offense was very anemic to start the game and leading up to the half. And not just that the Eagles played us well defensively, but some truly head-scratching play calling at times.

I was on the fence about keeping him a few weeks ago. I officially made up my mind anyone in the draft will do especially with Kahn picking

The defense should have been able to hold Philly to less than 20 years on 2 plays.

And after the completion it would only have been 2 and 9 even if the penalty was accepted.

Arthur Smith's play calling was putrid.

I'm so tired of running the ball on 1st and 2nd downs, then we end up in too many 3rd and longs.

This definitely should've been offsetting penalties.

This was a complete team loss. I really don't think a healthy Pickens would've been a difference maker, but I think a healthy Ogunjobi would've definitely helped more. Our defense got bullied today. This was the first real test of the season and they failed miserably. The 10 minute drive to close the game was excruciating. If they play like this in the playoffs, they will be one and done.

    Medical reports are screwy

TJ is negative which is positive

I had a brain scan and it was good but the report said “nothing significant found”

    3. TJ is awesome, but unfortunately him missing time is part of the deal. When is the last time he made it through an entire season?
Just like his brother, he is HOF caliber but also injury prone.

39:52 - 20:08 time of possession. Steelers do not have enough offensive playmakers to be a real contender. Their secondary was terrible. We are probably witnessing Tomlin's annual 3-game losing streak.

Another missed call by the refs the slap was before the punt, and it should've been a first down for the Steelers.

I agree partially, but the offensive ineptness to start the game isnt great Too many quick series and out. defense is on the field a lot. We can't get 3 points on two back to back turnovers. Its just embarrassing. Our WR's just done get separation and the teams playing us seem to have no problem finding wide open holes in our zones or they shake our defenders in man. On offense its seems every other team can find a way to execute the quick slant but us. i swear we run it the least of any time. Punting down 14 at that point was insane, who cares if it doesnt work and they quickly punch it in. That was the game either way, so if you don't make it so be it. But assuming the defense who was gassed was going to make two back to back stops is nuts. We have to start faster, we can't rely on second half against great teams, the game could be over by then and our defensive tank will be empty.

I'm chalking this up to an "Atypical trap game."

Not that they were looking past the Eagles. But that they know the Baltimore game is more important in the grande scheme of things. It wouldn't surprise me if we found out they spent half the week doing early prep work for the Ravens.

We weren't going to win out. A loss to an NFC team hurts less.

But the injury bug is hitting us at the worst time.

Austin shows again that he's a mediocre DC. Our pass D got abused at least partly because we weren't even trying to jam their receivers at the LOS. Especially in short yardage and in the red zone.

Agreed. There were a few screwy calls that went against the Steelers, but the way they got their asses kicked, I doubt it mattered. The coaches and players deserved to lose.

That massive gap in time of possession was not on the offense. The defense couldn't get off the field. Most of the second half was eaten up by three drives by the Eagles.

Also, it is tough for any playmakers to do much when the team doesn't have the ball. Also, the line was not good. The backs had nowhere to go in the first half and Wilson was under pressure most of the time. The offense looks a lot worse without Pickens. I had hoped that Williams could step up and help, but he did very little today.

I'm getting really tired of watching Seumalu get walked straight back into Russ constantly. That spot needs upgraded. He's not even close to 'elite' anymore.
