Seeing reports about him, but are the Steelers looking at him? Have only seen one report about this. Did some research and it seems he is buried on the Cowboys depth chart behind Ware and Spencer. Anyone???

" Have the Steelers found James Harrison’s replacement? According to Jason La Canfora, OLB Victor Butler will be in for a visit tomorrow. Butler has experience as a 3-4 outside linebacker and he graded at +7.2 overall last season including +3.3 as a pass rusher. He’s shown well for the majority of his four seasons in Dallas as a backup so this may be his chance to earn a starting job."

I really thought Butler would get more attention on the market, and he still may... but this would be a great signing. Butler, like someone mentioned, has been stuck behind Demarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer, but has played well when he's seen the field.

He could definitely make more money elsewhere... but maybe the front office sells him on playing time. If he looks ready he could step into the starting lineup day 1. Maybe they also mention the long line of guys that become all-pro's in Dick Lebeau's system.

Yeah, it seems that when he is on the field he makes an impact. Guess we will see, but if they are 2 million off in terms of contract he won't be here. That's too much money to leave

If you sign Butler to the deal he is reported to want...that means you really have zero confidence in Worilds IMO

maybe just the injury history with worilds and woodley and carter.

plus no confidence in carter as #3 and worilds and woodleys injury history.

sign him and let them sort it out in camp who the starter is.

worilds is a FA next year right? if he has a good season we are again in a bidding war and nobody in the pipeline that's a sure thing.

it will be cheaper this year then next.

I read most interested were thinking in the 3/3.5 mill a year range...and that he wants about 5/6 mill a year......You are not bringing in someone at that $ to sit being Worilds.

I would think so with the Woodley restructure and cutting Colon and Harrison.

Yes they do....i read still 3-5 mil or so under....the money from Colon will not be seen until June 2nd and that will free up like 5.5 mil

I actually think they are really counting on Robinson to show up. He was very raw last year but stayed on the team despite not playing specials. It's not often you keep a back up olb that can't play specials unless something is there. They knew Harrison was close to being ready to play when they cut porter so maybe this is the same thing.

That would be nice to see them actually play Robinson! But, we don't play ANY young guy's. useally year 3-4. year 2 if your special.
If we bring in Butler or anyone it will be the 1st time in a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time we let an OLB go and had to tur to FA to find his replacement. All the way back to Kevin Green i think

Reports said he is in Pittsburgh right now, and he has interest from other teams. IMO I agree that talent us talent and if this guy can get to the QB to cause pressure which might create more TOs I'm good with it. Let them bring him in and challenge the rest.

Robinson did nothing to warrant playing time last year. I know he flashed some in preseason, and that's good, but only as a pass rusher, and only against quite low competition. There are a lot of parts of the job he's not ready for. He's certainly not on Worilds' level.

As for Butler, he sounds like another Worilds. Stuck as a backup, but playing well when in.

If Butler is back in town, my guess is that he didn't like the numbers that we were talking about... until he visited some other teams and found out that there isn't a team out there who thinks that his value is anywhere near where he sees his value. Now he's back to say "OK, maybe your numbers weren't so low."

Seems like a lot of progression from Friday to Monday.

Out of all the guys we've looked at I'd like this signing the most. I think having Butler and Worilds fight it out in camp gives us enough confidence to not have to reach for a pass rusher early in the draft, and gives us depth at the position.

Especially given how little Carter has shown to date.

I had liked the though of Harrison coming back and maybe a rotation with Worlids...Are we really gonna give a career backup 3.5-4 mil a year? if it's just for competition i save the cash and let Robinson back up Worlids

I really, really doubt that we go any higher than $2.5m/yr. just to fill a void. However, the Steelers, like other pro teams, have a pro scouting department (in addition to college scouting departments). I'm sure that they have watched every snap that he played with the Cowboys, and if they see an emerging starter, then he has value - even at $4m/yr. I liked him a lot coming out of Oregon State, and I have seen him make some plays in Dallas.

If he is back I'm gonna say within the next day we will hear he signed with the Steelers players don't normally come back after the first meeting
