I still have that memory: Harrison enters as long snapper, misses the punter, costly safety, game over.... anyone...?
This is a reliable guy (Warren)

warren had a bad snap last year on a short FG attempt that hurt us, was the snap i was referring to. also we didn't have warren finish the season two years in a row. ratkofsky stepped in without a hitch both years. one of those was in the SB. warren has never been active to win a ring. sorry, i thought you guys would like a little interesting trivia for the day.:smiley1:

Ugh...nothing against the guy....but he was injury prone just like Sep was but yet hes still here. I wish I could make what he does to snap a ball a few times a game...

It is a good gig if you can get it. Does the LS get in on tackles or do anything else besides snap on ST? You never hear much about LS, which is probably a good thing. Because hearing his name probably means he just screwed up.

I told my wife if we have a son, that from day 1 I'm teaching him to be a kicker. Most kickers are converted high school athletes (quarterbacks a lot of the time). If he starts from peewee I think he'll be ready by the time he's 18.

actually warren does make some plays on punt defense. i've always liked that about him. he's good at what he does. i remember the giants not going to a SB because of a bad snap to win the NFCCG several years back. if you have a bad LS, beleive me you would notice. what the heck did teams do before these specialty guys.:hmmm: oh yea, someone else on the team did it. LOL how times have changed.

now we know why he didn't want to take the pay cut. he was figuring in his LS duties as a mil. in that salary. ahhhh, it all makes sense now. LOL:lolol:

I still fail to see how long snapping - which is a technique, but ultimately the same each punt or kick - requires a full roster spot. They got punters to hold the FGs after a while, what else can the LS do?

If the answer for Warren is play CB, then I'd be more excited.

I read somewhere that If we re-signed Warren it would be an outrageous amount (for a LS) because of his years of service and most LS are young guys making league minimum....anyone know how much savings would that have been??

    Warren's was a 1 year, $840,000 contract (vet min).

To answer your question, if you mean a rookie LS, the minimum is $405,000.

Thanks...I thought i read it would be a little higher because of vet min + time served or something :hmmm:
we could have saved $435K picking up someone else

thats less then he made last year. starks just received a 270,000+ bonus for starting every game last year so we're in the hole farther.

Yeah, but do you want to risk losing a game for it? Warren's had one bad(ish) snap in the 8 years or whatever that he's been here. I like those odds.

Of course, we should still always be on the lookout for a good replacement. That's what Warren was for Schneck, who wasn't bad or old. I think when choosing a youngster to replace your proven vet, you not only need them to have zero bad snaps for like, the entire time they are on a football field (even a practice field), you also need to have a really good feeling about where they are mentally. No weirdos allowed. Plus it's nice if they can run and tackle. Might not be that easy to find.
