Ok. I've looked at two mocks online trying to do some research for the Board's fantasy draft and they both have us taking Teo in the 2nd. I was a Teo supporter before he hit the combine but not after. I gave him the benefit of the doubt after his performance in the BCS Championship. But his individual effort at the combine was highly disappointing. One mock in particular had Pitt taking Teo with players like Kevin Minter, Eddie Lacy, and Matt Elam still on the Board. Is there any lingering support for taking Teo on this Board? I say no thanks.

I dont like him after the Championship game and the combine, but I also don't like the media distraction that will come with drafting him. With the hoax, and the media up his butt about everything, that will all follow him to Pittsburgh if we picked him up, and we have enough distractions around here. I'm sure the media would die down, but it would be like having tim tebow on our team, and I hate hearing about tebow haha

I saw Walterfootball's mock too. There's a lot of guys there that I'm not expecting to be there in the 2nd.

If Lacy, Minter, Elam, were on the board lik he has it I'd take any of those guys over Te'o... But if Te'o is there in round 2, I would definitely take a shot on him.

If those other guys are already gone I would take him in the 2nd. The entire Notre Dame team played poorly in the Championship game. The hoax story is what any naive citizen can get caught up in. Identity theft, girlfriend take you to cleaners, it happens. But the guy has proven he can play.

My view of his on-field talent (prior to Girlfriendgate and the combine) has been that he's a bottom of round 1 talent. I have to drop that a bit based on the BCS game, but I still think he would be a pretty good value pick at #48.

I have him in my mock at #2. If he's there you gotta take a chance on him. Elam will be gone by then.

I'd definitely take him in the 2nd. The guy has a ton of football smarts, I was just reading an article that says he could be our future signal caller.

I'd definitely be okay with us picking him up in the 2nd. I saw a mock recently that had us taking Jarvis Jones in the first and T'eo in the second. Can you imagine how feared our LB corps would be if that happened? We'd be set for at least the next 5-7 years.

My opinion is you can get the same type player or very close in later rounds without the spotlight of catfish - dude is weird

I would still have no problem with him in the first. Kid is a very good football player.....I love all the 40 talk....yes its a tool...but a 4.6 and a 4.8 are 2/10ths of a second....or about the time it would take to push the button on a stop watch.

Would you take him at 17? I wouldn't mind him at the end of the round if we traded down, but I think he's a reach there.

I don't think you have to take him at 17 now...but I always had him graded in the back half of round one....when everyone was telling me he will never make it to us..he is top 10...heck even kiper had him #1 overall at one point. But if you think he can lead youer defense for the next decade..then yes..17 won't matter..and I dont know he makes it to 48

I'd agree with you, that his sweet spot is probably in the late first, early second range. On the "lead your defense for the next decade" comments, I don't think that happens... Unless you mean "lead" in the Ray Lewis sense this past season :eyeroll:

I think Te'o could be a very solid, dependable guy in the middle of our defense... But he's not going to make the kind of plays that Timmons can where he shoots around the edge and levels a ballcarrier 5 yards deep in the backfield. Dependable is the best word I can think to describe him. He does seem to be like Troy though, in that he just has a knack for being where the ball is. When you watch it, it just seems like luck, but there's probably instincts and a feel for the game there, that can't really be taught.

He doesn't seem worth the 17th pick for me, because he's not ever going to be a Patrick Willis, or even a Lawrence Timmons (all in my opinion of course)... but he could be solid.

I doubt he makes it to #48, but I have a hard time imagining there will be better players available for us if he does make it.

Media shmedia. Media attention is often bad, but that's because it often reflects on the person (Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Brett Favre, even Tim Tebow because of the controversy he brings wherever he goes). If you believe Te'o still has a great character and no real baggage beyond something that happened to him, I don't think it will harm the team. I also think that his hoax stuff will last one season at best, and then it'll be old news.

He's great value at #48, and I doubt there will be someone with better value at a position of need.

Yes, without a doubt. I'd be very happy with Te'o in the 2nd. I highly doubt he'll be available though.

Don't be shocked. I say that every year "no way player X is there when we pick" and I'm wrong every year.

Last year I thought DeCastro would go somewhere between 10-15. They were saying there was a good chance Mike Adams was our first round pick.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think we'd be nuts to pass on him in the 2nd. I don't know when "not a superstar" became synonymous with "get away from my team", but I think he'll be a very good inside linebacker, and we need one badly. I'm still fond of the idea of trading down and taking him with our first pick.

He won't be there in the 2nd the Ravens will probably take him after losing Lewis to retirement and Ellerbee to free agency.

I think the Ravens go either top Safety or WR left on the board at 32.
