Sources tell ESPN.com that the Bengals and Steelers are showing interest in free agent Beanie Wells.
The Bengals already have a plodding two-down back that runs to contact in BenJarvus Green-Ellis, so it would be an odd fit. The Steelers, meanwhile, would likely consider Wells an upgrade on Jonathan Dwyer. Although Beanie was a bust in Arizona, he's still just 24 and never appeared truly healthy. He's among the top-seven running backs available right now. Mar 12 - 3:40 PM

I find that hard to believe, personally. After tendering Dwyer and Redman, that doesn't really make sense. Stranger things have happened though...

He is a baby and was at OSU, He will never see the field
We have far too many of these babies on our team already.
    He does not like contact.

I'd rather us get a RB somewhere in the draft rather than picking up Arizona's cast aways

Those two with Batch being a exclusive signing and Johnson at FB and a draft choice at RB I don't see it either.

So he was a bust in AZ but considered an upgrade over Dwyer who has shown some success behind a bad line no less

If we hadn't tendered Dwyer and Redman I might like it. The fact that he's still only 24 is good, and he has some talent... But I really don't get what he brings that Dwyer doesnt.

I like Wells, mostly based on the fact that he graduated from my high school, just a lot later...
And he is a tough runner. Shame he has had the injuries he has had...
But we have a lot bigger issues than what he would "fix".
He doesn`t strike me as a true "feature back", as much as I want him to be...
We have runners as capable as he is, here, already...
Always hoped he would have a good career in the NFL, but he couldn`t seem to quit getting hurt.. Doubt that will change, unfortunately...
Same for another cat outta here, who played for Hoban High School, I think..
    Tyrelle Sutton...
Great H.S. Back, Played for Northwestern University, if I remember right(can`t remember where he went to college, but if you ever saw the guy run, you would want him on your team...)...
If he even got drafted, it didn`t pan out, and it`s a damn shame, because he ran with heart and effort, like no one since Jim Brown...
Not sure what ever happened to him, if it was injuries, or what, but, I think it`s kinda like whats gonna happen to Chris Wells, except at least Wells had a chance at this level.
Now that I think about it, I think Sutton did get a chance, but it might have been on the Vikings behind Adrian Peterson...
Anyhow... I would pass on Wells, but only because we have Dwyer and maybe Redman..
Without them, hell yeah, I would take a chance on "Beanie" Wells. He would come cheap.. injury prone, too, tho, unfortunately.
Edit... Just `cause it was buggin me...
I was right about Tyrelle, except, he went to the Pack, then the Seahawks, then the USFL... but here`s the wiki link on him, to prove to myself, I remembered him halfway right...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrell_Sutton
Some of the records he set in high school here were just literally unbelievable.. Thought he would be a "sure thing" in the NFL...

If we can get Wells cheap, then I am all for it. If he can stay healthy, he will be a beast of a RB. I'm hearing now that Arizona is interested in Mendenhall.

Wells was a flop in AZ, he never played a full season due to injuries, and when I say a full season I mean he just played in a very few games where he didnt tap out and go to the sidelines :The knock on him being unable to play with small injuries coming out of college by the scouts turned out to be right on the money: If they want another Duce Staley sideline cheerleader, then Wells fits that bill to a tee...

I'd like to keep the Pittsburgh to Arizona pipeline a one way route.
