This is based in speculation, not concrete fact. I'm aware that his presence helps. That's why I'm not saying he is useless. He is still a good player, but nowhere near the All-Pro he was for the Steelers previously, so kindly spare me the condescending nonsense at the end of your post. I see Fitzpatrick getting fooled out of position on big plays. Maybe you missed that. I see him not making any big plays. Do you think teams were going after him that much more when he was intercepting passes? Maybe somewhat less, but it is also him not playing as well. However, stealing credit from other players to try to prop him up is just silly.

Regarding the Polamalu story, there are a couple of things you are missing. One is that Polamalu has said that McAfee gave it away, which is why he moved from his usual spot. Also, McAfee had to call off the fake because the gap where he was supposed to run, not just because it was Polamalu. It could have been Ryan Clark and he would have had to do the same thing.

Continuous inconsistency on the OL and DL are much more concerning than lack of splash plays by Fitz.

And the defenses inability to get to the QB. 10 sacks so far is pathetic.

Right. People keep defending Minkah, but the reality is he's a shell of his former self. Looks like TJ is heading in that same direction as well.

When your worried about what the fans are saying then maybe your questioning yourself.

He seems to have had minor struggles the last few years. But he is still is playing above the line. Not All Pro level.

Obviously, you missed the relationship between the Troy story and how a player being THAT player changes how an offense may react.
None of what I posted was trying to be condescending.
I hope you are getting some sleep. You are coming across a bit cranky.

Minkah's contract will be re-worked in the offseason. bookmark this.

he is under-performing his money. He is no longer All Pro but being paid as if he is.

I like him. He is good, very good, but not great, as he was for a couple of seasons

this is not hate, so some of you, don't get your panties in a wad. it is a business and Khan will figure it out.

The way you ended your post came off as condescending. Perhaps you should pay closer attention the tone of your posts.

I didn’t miss anything. That I don’t see things as you do does not mean I missed something. Any player being in that gap would have ruined the fake. There just aren’t all that many players who would have read it like he did.

I believe that as a coach, if you have a player you believe capable of making plays all over the field, you do all you can to put him in the position to make those plays. I don't think Fitzpatrick has lost anything, I think he is the victim of a DC with no cojones.

I write a post. YOU read with whatever 'tone' you choose to read it with . That part is on you.

BTW...Condescending means talking down at someone.

Perhaps that wasn't your intent, but that was the effect. The meaning in any text is derived from a combination of the author's intent and the reader's interpretation. Both are valid. There is a quote about books that can apply to any form of writing. "If someone tells you what a book is about, they are probably right. If they tell you that is all the book is about, they are definitely wrong."

If someone isn't reading your message the way you intend it, perhaps you should reconsider how you are expressing yourself.

IDL is getting up there in age whereas the Offensive Line is still very much a unit in learning. Both must be addressed in the Offseason. Personally, I'd go as so far as to attack WR and CB in FA then target the big boys in the draft... again.

I would draft DL. Have to get younger there. Ogunjobi is signed through 2025. And Heyward is long in the tooth.

I can't see them drafting OL early. Maybe a LG later in the draft. Unless they think that Jones cannot take the LT spot.

As far as receiver I agree they need to upgrade like yesterday. They also have to decide about extending Pickens which will be pricy. So maybe we draft a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd and get one in FA. Jefferson should be gone only signed through this year thank goodness. Austin III is signed through 2025.

If I was the Steelers I would be reluctant to sign Minka to a large 3rd contract. And I like Minka alot.

As long as the guy paying you noticed, you're good to go....

But regarding Fitz, I think you could pay another safety a WHOLE lot less to 'keep a lid on things' 20 yards back. Hell, bring back Mike Mitchell for that, a guy that was rarely in the camera shots in the secondary.

You want to put it on the coach, but Fitz's stellar season was because the player played with recognition and anticipation. Those are player traits that come from study and experience. I don't see him playing with either trait right now.

Fitz has a 115 QB rating against right now. In any book that is awful, and in fact, far worse than Elliot, who is good but not great.

I think you may be underestimating the skill level required to be a deep safety

Unless the Steelers entrust Spencer Anderson to hold down the LG spot and/or James Daniels returns (something I doubt), IOL is going to be a bigger need than others realize come 2025. There really isn't anyone else on the roster at the moment who would be considered as adequate depth. Ryan McCollum has shown to be an excellent depth piece but beyond him, that is, more or less it. Spencer still needs time, Nate Herbig is on IR and Max Sharping is very much an unknown.

Now, to your point, should they draft one early?! I personally wouldn't. However, if someone like a Tate Ratledge from Georgia or even a Donovan Jackson from Ohio State falls in place for Round 2?! I definitely would entertain that possibility for certain. I would also add Tyler Booker from Alabama but for me, he is a Top 20 pick; someone who will be long gone by the time the draft rolls around.

Right now?! IDL or CB would be my Round One options. Tyleik Williams from Ohio State or even Deone Walker from Kentucky would be rock solid additions. As of now, Walter Nolen from Ole Miss is a possible wild card. As for CB?! Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame is someone I would familiarize myself with. Denzel Burke from Ohio State is another. Trey Amos from Ole Miss is my wild card.

I mean and, again, if people want to relive the "Glory Days" of the 2018 Steelers Passing Defense, by all means release Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Oh and, this is not accounting for the fact that NFL Offenses have become much more explosive using the MOF; an area were Minkah excels at.
