I was thinking about this the other day but didn't have the "stones" to post it like you did.;)

I agree that it could make sense. I'm not a Bradshaw fan. He played football in my home county and I just know too much about the guy that would give me pause in the character department.

:lolol: Well, it's the outrageous FA posts that would cost us a fortune to sign that get frowned upon the most, I figured this one was pretty safe.

As for his character, really? I don't know if I am having a memory lapse or what but i don't recall him causing any problems for the Giants in that regard? The other guy they had did, what the heck was his name, the big bruiser back they had, his name escapes me at the moment, he was a problem with a big selfish attitude.

Brandon Jacobs. That guy is an idiot. I've never heard one negative thing about Bradshaw's character. I think he'll be too expensive for us though.

Just draft a RB. cheaper and we may hit a home run, also don't have the attitude.

Jacobs, that's it, yeah he wasn't well liked here at all. Technically any difference maker FA is too expensive for us but maybe the problems with Bradshaws feet will drive down his market some. It would allow us to spend a pick elsewhere.

At last count, Bradshaw had 7 kids by 6 different women. I had also heard that he's not really supportive of those kids. Those are the kinds of things that don't seem to get reported in the press as often as a guy smoking a joint or getting drunk in public, but it most certainly speaks to one's character nonetheless!

I heard Tom Coughlin on NFL radio talking about Bradshaw. Sounds like the bus in that he can not walk on Monday after a game, rehabs all week, practices on like Thurs/Fri. and plays like hell on Sunday.

They will be better off drafting a runningback they come cheaper and healthier than Bradshaw. A rookie runningback won't have the pressure to start right away Dwyer and Redman will get the bulk of the carries. Eddie Lacy would look good in the black and gold.

Eddie Lacy would start right away over Redman or Dwyer and it wouldn't be close. Dwyer and Redman are awful. If we have to rely on them again next year, we're in trouble.

Not exactly the type of character issues that would cause a problem playing football. However, after a quick search (I wasn't about to waste too much time on this) I found he has 3 children, 2 of them with the same girl that he has been with for the last 12 years. I don't know if it's true and I don't care, I don't care how many kids he fathers or who he screws, I only care if he's doing his job, I don't have to like the guy. I'm sure we had some questionable characters on the team in the 70's, you just didn't hear about their dirty laundry back then.

I haven't done a search and don't have time to and I'll admit that my assertion is based on anecdotal evidence, but I worked with a guy that went to school with him and one of my clients actually coached him in his pre-high school days. We spent lunch one day discussing Bradshaw's issues. Bradshaw was also recruited to play football at UVA and was kicked out for underage drinking, being drunk in public and resisting arrest. I realize that was a long time ago and people grow up and they do change, but he has had his issues. We can debate whether or not these would affect his worth as a teammate but for my money I'd rather draft a guy with a clean slate (relatively speaking) that can come in and compete for a starting role right out of the gate.

:lolol: Hmmm, you haven't seen Hacks board etiquette manual yet have you, it's required reading!

About Bradshaw, he has problems with his feet, I don't know to what degree.

Most of the policing has stopped. All you're doing is antagonizing people. Just let it go.

I think it is hilarious that the number of kids a man has by different women would be used as a measuring stick for what type of football player he is. Derrick Thomas is considered one of the best LB to play the game during the 90's and was inducted in the HOF for his play, by all accounts he was one heck of a teammate and he had seven children by five different women all of who fought over his estate after his untimely death even though they sued General Motors jointly with his mother for making the car that he had the accident in that led to his death. Just because a player has multiple children with different women doesn't make his a bad team mate it just means his personal life is different that lot of us. Heck my brother has five kids by four different women and he isn't a bad person, he is a good dad and supports his kids, he is just bad at being married and being in relationships but can hold down a job like nobody's business.

We can all discuss how we feel about that from a personal level but it would be counterproductive in this forum. Join me in a forum on morality in society and we might debate it. :smiley1:

If you'll notice when I first brought it up above I mentioned that I had heard that he wasn't very supportive of his kids. I think we'd all agree if that were the case that it speaks poorly of someone's character. At any rate, as I mentioned above most of my "evidence" is anecdotal so it's counterproductive for me to continue to belabor the point. Peace out!

We can do better in the draft, the key here is
that the Steelers must let the KIDS PLAY.

I just thought it was funny Jack and by no means thought you were being serious. I think it goes to just how bored we are or needing some actual news to debate and discuss that we have started to talk about poor life choices when it comes free agents. You are right many of these things speak to the type of character a player has and can be an indicator of potential problem areas but I don't think it is always the case .

We have a lot of areas to address, so if we can save some draft choices for other areas its something they should look at, it's ok to use FA to fill a void when the right situation appears, I'm not saying Bradshaw is 100% the right fit but it's definitely a FA move they can make and should investigate to see if it is a good fit.
