Agree on the need to wait to celebrate. I commented just the other day to my son that it is very much like soccer now. Have to wait to see if VAR is going to find an offside before you can fully celebrate. Annoying.

Well thats true however CTE can get you early. I just have trouble comprehending some peoples choices to harm themselves when it can be avoided. If you have 4 concussions what would be the thought process of continuing on knowing full well the chances of one or several more is pretty much imminent?

Only one around back then was Methuselah and they literally would throw the "rock" down the field.

All good points and I agree. That is kind of my point. Why take the risk? Sure I understand risk from their perspective to do something they love and get paid very well to do it. My point centers more around after you have so many concussions your really putting yourself at risk. Quality of life is important and these players that have several concussions really are risking their quality of life

I'm sorry to whomever this bothers, but I'm 100 % behind what You just said. Hell I've had multiple concussions for fun of the sport, and didn't receive a dime, and any kid that played any contact sports in the day did also. Hell many that just did guy things back in the day did. We didn't strap on pads, and helmets to ride a bike, skateboard , ride horses, or many of the other dumb stuff we did in our youths, and that's not even talking about the other stuff You brought up that I agree with.

As an old timer, the 70s, 80s, 90s were much better for me. To much emphasis on protecting QBs and offense. It’s so seemingly difficult to sack a QB without a flag being thrown…especially if it’s the likes of a Mahomes. Not to mention the ticky tac PI calls.

I often wonder how much greater a Montana, Marino, Elway, Rice, B Sanders, Swann and so many other greats would’ve faired … and vice versa how much (worse defensively) a Lambert, Greene etc etc…

I complain all the time but I still watch the NFL fervently. I just think the leagues hyper-focused on offense due to TV ratings and the mighty dollar.

    I agree with this 100%
Most of the offensive players back then would be better in today rules, and most of the Defensive players would be worse.

I remember the first MNF game on ABC. The Browns crowning achievement:) I was pumped for football after Sunday and time didn't matter. Steelers were about to kick some ass for a decade.

Now, I despise night games on any day.

NFL all about that dollar and protecting it's product now days.

Nice point!! I am a Nam vet (thankfully on the sea) and I made a grand total of 20,000 over 4 years. I joined, was not forced. I chose it. NFL players chose their sport and make a little more then I did.

Evel gave me a good laugh. They should have thrown tons and tons of cotton in the Grand Canyon for his safety.;)

how many concussions do boxers suffer during a bout? During their careers. Yet they still do it. Would think a sport where causing a concussion is smiled upon would produce a lot of boxers with brain issues?

For sure we understand the motivation I just don't see how someone that is reasonable make such bad decisions about their future quality of life. The players that retire early knowing this I have a huge amount of respect for.

So many ticky tack pass INT calls every game. Obviously the game is geared towards offense. Fans love offense. It would be ****ty to be in the secondary. And has been like this awhile. All orchestrated by the commish and league owners.

One of the things that I actually like about the NFL is the refereeing. I think that sometimes having bad calls introduces a variance in the game that can add to the game. There are a few referee teams that go above and beyond on making bad calls and that needs rained in, but the occasional incorrect call on a first down yardage or a pass interference actually add to the game I think. It gives fans something to ***** about and provides a lot of commentary from the peanut gallery.

So I do not like that they're moving more and more towards automation. Automatic reviews, the cyclops, chips in footballs and wherever else is going on.
