On Thursday Lewis posted on his Facebook page that he has a new secret and that he's not telling a soul about it.

Lewis posted: "Good news, thank you lord, you always told me keep faith and you will handle the rest. It's a secret, I'm not telling nobody what it is either, just know I am about to turn up."

So what do you guys think? Are the Steelers about to make him their highest paid CB ever or has some other team given indications that they are about to wow him with an offer? His comments came on Thursday which was after a flurry of re-structures, si I'm guessing he's staying. What do YOU think? :hmmm:

Thanks, TE. I missed it in the other post. I think it would be tampering but I'm sure teams find ways around that all the time. I'd be surprised if Lewis would make these comments on FB if it were a team other than the Steelers though.

Exactly, that's my point, tampering happens but he'd be implicating them. It's one thing to tamper, it's another to announce it to the world. I hope he is staying a Steeler, I actually like the way our secondary has been shaping up.

Yeah, that would indeed be tampering (which happens regularly in the NFL and is seldom punished to my knowledge).

While cryptic, I do personally believe he was hinting that he knows he'll be staying.

But if he signed with the Steelers he could say so, they still have his rights until the free agent period starts. So no tampering there. It would only have to be kept quiet if he agreed to terms with another team.

The Steelers aren't going to make him the highest paid cb ever, he might have a longterm contract though.

I don't think he'd want to get ahead of the team on the announcement. Colbert wouldn't like that much and neither would the Rooneys.

I think they have a deal worked out. They just cant announce it till steelers get some more deals restructured or release some players. Cause as it stands right now they dont have room right?

Honestly if any of our DB's went missing- I would look for them sure- but I wouldnt be in a rush

    thing is
it seems that our corners always go missing and the other team's qb not necessarily look for them but absolutely look their way in a rush :smiley1:

Ever notice when your DB's suck it is when you cant get pressure on the QB? Look at the last 3 years Steelers sack and pressure totals.

Forget signing average players to above market value- keep trying to find players in the front 7 to solve the problem.

This is exactly the kind of "splash" free agent signing the Steelers love to make. Also the only kind they ever do make. I'm sure he's staying.

I'm hoping that we got him for cheaper than expected, because Steeler CBs that leave tend to not pan out in other systems and his offers might have been lower than expected. But since it's happening so early without much of a chance for him to test the waters, I kinda doubt it.

My guess is he is signed or at least agreed in principle, but he can't say anything yet. Why? Cause we still would currently be above the cap and not be cap compliant. Until someone restructures or is cut to keep us under the correct number, we are stuck with him being quiet.

Maybe what he means is that since the Jets are trying to get rid of Revis they have decided to make a trade for him and he's now realizing his lifelong dream of playing for Rex Ryan.

    Ha ha, brilliant.

Even the Vatican makes more moves in FA signings than the Steelers!

i thought our db's played well last year after benching mundy and before the injuries.

we need another safety to solidify it better. not to mention with gay back, we could have one of the strongest d-backfields in the league. if we can sign lewis it's just a plus.

i'm not sure however our front 7 can be fixed by just throwing more players at it every year. if the ones we have can stay on the field, they can be good.

losing a 3rd round ilb for two years wasen't planned. that spot and safety are the only real needs we have on defense that we may want to throw higher picks at. then add some depth at a couple spots. that would be my guess at what they'll do. i don't think the db's stink though, even with the front 7 hurting. i think that says something about our db coach.

I agree also. Our pass rush has steadily declined for 3 straight years. We need to upgrade the talent pool.

Before he was cut, I was campaigning to have Gay switch to safety. Think about it: his best plays came from rushing the QB (seem to remember he had a fair few pressures and sacks as a nickleback), when he was one part of double-covereage, and he always lined up fifteen yards away from his man anyway.

he played some in college. i like the signing. i was never as down on gay as some here. he's done some good things for us. as a 5th rounder, he absolutely outplayed the 2nd rounder mcfadden. he's even blocked kicks on ST's and can be a gunner. if they are going to draft a safety though this would be the year to do it for the future. at least thats my feelings on it.
