Ben could still move at 36. It wasn’t until his last two seasons he looked like he was walking on glass with a porcupine up his ass.

    That's debatable.
    Ben played 18 years
This is Russell Wilson 13th year. So You would have to look at 2016 Ben for this to be fair. JMO

So happy Tomlin went Lone Ranger Russ IS THE MAN FOR NOW, but I would keep Fields he has a lot of skill also don't let him go. He needs to work on being a leader. He needs to be more accurate.Make good decisions I think Fields could be an answer

Things went wrong for him, too, such as some ugly protection breakdowns early on and the drop by Austin that killed his second drive of the game.

Pickens and Freiermuth can make tough catches when their quarterback gives them a chance. That is where those touch passes come in handy. If it had been Fields, those would have been line drives that would have given them no shot at the ball.

Fields 66.3 completion pct of 20 yards or greater doesn’t support your perception. For reference, Mahomes has a 67.9 and Josh Allen has a 63.3 completion pct.

You watch the games, too. Have you not seen him firing line drives when the receiver has a step on a defender on an intermediate route?

If I got my fuzzy math right Wilson.1 is 11 points per game average better than Fields

    That’s a lot

Curious if there are any remaining holdouts on this being a good move?

It was the right move. I’m glad that we are getting good results. I believe Wilson definitely gives us a better chance to win now. I do hope that Fields has a future here.

Remember week 10, last year, when we had our first 300 yd offensive game under Kenny Pickett? Seems like a long time ago.....

Russ has been better in every aspect minus the athleticism to run with the ball. Probably the most significant to me is his anticipation...it's not even close.

It was a no brainer for Tomlin to start Russ. He was their #1 and was finally healthy. I don't think anyone was saying that Fields was a better passer than Russ, just that he was a better runner. Overall, Fields was a serviceable backup, but he was regressing. The time was right, and it has paid off. I don't think Fields will ever be more than what he is, a decent #2.

There were most definitely people here that thought it was a waste of time to even try Wilson.1 and that we should squander the season trying to see what Fields could do

    They were wrong way wrong

And we did see what Fields can do and he can do it as a backup

Thank god Tomlin answered the phone when @S.T.D called

People thought that Fields made up for not being as good a passer by being a better runner. People argued that they needed his mobility, that the line was going to get Wilson killed. That one cracked me up because they wrote as if Wilson was a statue back there. He isn't the threat to run that he used to be, but Wilson can still move. They also argued that Fields needed to play because he is the future.

Now we see that the offense is much better with Wilson. His ability to execute play-action and to throw deep isn't just leading to big plays. It is creating room for the running game. If the defense can get is act together and the offense can play like the last two weeks, the Steelers can be a real threat in the playoffs. I'm not sure that was true with Fields.
