This has ZERO impact on Lewis. Gay is what he is....a veteran who knows our system and provides insurance should someone get hurt or should we be unable to sign Lewis. This is the Steelers MO and actually strengthens their bargaining position with Lewis. Personally, I am excited to see what we can do with 3 corners I trust.

When it comes to Brown, I still think he needs to move to Safety. Just an opinion, but he would have better longevity there with this team.

i hope not, but he is the #2 cb. cortez is here to replace ike's spot. gay gives us alot of options. ike isn't leaving this year, so he will play somewhere as a starter. if lewis is back then we go back to last year and gay also becomes the dime and possibly depth at safety.

I turned on NFL AM and 5 seconds later they announced William Gay signed a 3 year deal with the Steelers, having just finished lunch I had to turn the T.V. off and try not to throw up. I know that he is a little better at playing in the nickel but with the way injuries happen and the money situation it is scary to think he may be starting at some point. I can't help it but I keep seeing the same thing in my head over and over now and it is the vision of the Steelers being up by 5 in a big game with 38 seconds left and the opposing team has the ball on their own 30 and in 4 plays they score as Willy's guy has 3 receptions and the TD during the final drive. This team has a hard enough time with that happening all the time let alone brining in someone who has been part of, and the main reason that it has happened for a lot of games although he did save a game also.

i found this that sum it up :
Lewis is what is has been all offseason They have a price in their head that they are willing to pay him. All it takes is one team to overpay and then he will be gone. They won't get in a bidding war for Lewis. Gay provides insurance if Lewis leaves and cheap veteran depth if he stays

Ike, Lewis, Allen and Gay will work for me. Gay's signing does nothing to impact Lewis and his signing. It's not even close! Also tells me we def skipping the DB in the draft IMO

I think they will get a safety but don't rule out a corner either. DVD is a restricted free agent and who knows if we even bring him back, King hasn't lived up to the hype yet maybe the lake effect works on him maybe not. We still haven't signed Lewis and brown and Victorian looked lost out there last year. I give Victorian a pass since he was a rookie. I do think this is Brown's last chance to prove he can play and isn't just a special teamer. I'm looking forward to the camp battles for the corners there is a lot of potential back there but at this point that's all it is.

3 years 4.5 mill with a 500k signing bonus sounds like a fair deal for both sides.

There has been like five in since Tomlin arrived. Foote, Gay, McFadden, Leftwhitch and Randle El. I don't think it's a big deal myself. Most of them I believe left after Superbowl seasons. If they can help the team I say fine.

Exactly. He's no slouch as a nickel corner, blitzes very well from that position, and a solid contributor on special teams. The deal isn't enough to prevent them from signing Lewis and is probably more of a cover your ass move than anything else.

Forgot about Burress. Don't know if you can count Max as he never left to sign with someone else.

I'm okay with it as long as they re-sign Lewis and Gay is the 4th cb as he is better suited to cover slot receivers on 3rd downs. Gay is a pretty good blitzer also.

It cost the #Steelers $511,666.66 in 2013 cap space after displacement in top 51 to sign Gay.#TheSkyIsNotFallingDontJumpOffTheBridge
