    Gotcha.

Thought that a trading team would have to eat much of that. Thank you for clearing that up man!!

I still want a true WR2 just not Williams. A Metcalf or even a Lockett will do wonders to this team

Steelers are one of the few NFL teams that still believe in building
your team thru the draft. Yes they will make an occasional big FA signing
But for the most part their business plan is to go thru the draft.

The Seahawks are all alone in first place in the NFC West, they are going to be keeping all their playmakers.

I'd love DHOP, but I doubt the Titans are going to leave Levis high and dry like that even though they're going nowhere this year. Might kind of be the same thing with Kirk and Lawrence. If I had to bet, I'd guess we just end up with Marques Valdez Scantling.

What if the Rams lose their next 2? Would they deal Cooper Kupp? I don't pretend to know what the contract/cap implications are of that though? I'm guessing he'd cost a pretty penny

Kupp is under contract through 2026, his age 33 year.

For 2024, if they traded for him the Steelers would take on about half of his $15M base (all of which is fully guaranteed), so $7.5M.

In 2025 Kupp's base is $12.5M, and as of March 19 he is due a $7.5 roster bonus ($5 of which became guaranteed in March of 2024). So his cap number for next year would be $20M. If cut, they would take on $5M of dead money via the guaranteed portion of the roster bonus.

In 2026 his base is $14.85M, and if still a member of the team on March 19 it triggers a $5M roster bonus, so his cap number would become $19.85M. There are no guarantees, so if they were to release him prior to the 19th the entirety of the $19.85M is removed from the books.

Naturally, the concern with him at this point is his health. Since his 145/1947/16 performance in 2021 he has played in only 21 of 40 regular season games (nine in 2022, 12 in 2023, two thus far this year). In some ways his situation is similar to Adam Thielen, who missed 11 games from 2019-21. He logged a full season in 2022 (at age 32), posting 70/716/6 before being released by the Vikings. The Panthers picked him up in a 3yr/$25M deal that included $14M guaranteed at signing and roster bonuses in all three years.

By contrast, Kupp gives you more talent and has less guaranteed money attached to him if acquired via trade, but he also accounts for a higher cap number (Thielen's never rises above $9M in Carolina) and is in the midst of missing significant time in each of the past three seasons. On one hand that makes him appealing in a trade, with both sides saving on his full market value, but a gamble as well. $20M would be good value for the Steelers if he stays healthy, not so much if he's standing on the sidelines in a pair of sweats. For the Rams, it's about how much they think they challenge for the postseason versus the draft capital they gain in return. They've got Nacua (once he returns), but Stafford still likes Kupp.

Agreed. Where does all this Metcalf BS come from? Why not just have the Steelers getting Metcalf and Jefferson while your at it?

I'm just waiting on the 3rd Wilson to get healthy and develop into a dependable target.

I guess Seamalu, Daniels, Queen, Holcomb, Ogunjobi, Jackson, Elliot and Roberts have zero contribution to this team then. Your statement is factually untrue. Maybe the Steelers from years ago but under Khan this is not the case at all. You can throw in Wilson and Fields as well.

Rodgers is highly overrated at this point in his career. The Jets are an absolute mess. Williams has barely been targeted within their system and it appears he isn’t a great fit for them. Players go to teams and end up underperforming because they don’t fit or aren’t meshing with the Qb etc. all the time. I can see lots of players not getting along with Rodgers and having trouble meshing with him. He is a class a A*%. What people fail to realize is Williams is a perfect for Russ a permitter WR who is a contested catch and deep ball threat. That is exactly what they are looking for.

I saw this morning that the Chiefs are looking at Mike Williams.

This year Khan just seems to be late to the party, let's hope he doesn't wait until November to try and pickup a WR

I had a dream last night that the Chiefs picked him up. Hell if I know why I was dreaming that crap. I can think of a million other things I rather be dreaming about.

He's injury-prone, but Kupp is a true top-tier WR who moves the needle. If he's healthy, the Steelers without any doubt have a shot to do damage when it matters.

Amon Ra St. Brown is the best receiver in the NFL as we speak.

I'd take Jetta, Chase and maybe even Tyreek over St. Brown. Not really a knock on him, I like him, but best in NFL...not so sure.
