This is kinda Steelers related. Me and the wife our planning on have our third kid here soon and the whole family has Irish names so I said boy or girl let's name is Rooney. I think it's great like for a boy Rooney Patrick Morrow. She says no way that she isn't naming a kid after the Steelers considering we have Hines the cat Sidney the dog and Pirate the turtle. What do yinz think I threw out yinzer as well but almost got slapped.

Rooney Mara is an actress (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movie)...she is related to both the NFL's Rooney and Mara Family. I think the name fits her pretty well.

I don't think Rooney is a good first name for a boy or girl.

Well I'm sure she will win this and we will go with Noah or Ava so I guess my next dog will have to be Rooney

I wrote an essay in third grade where I told how I was married and had three kids: Terry, Brad, and Shaw.

'Artur' is gaelic (giggity) for Arthur (J. Rooney).

Art Rooney's great grandparents who immigrated from Ireland were named James and Mary. Kinda hard to go wrong there.

I agree that 'Rooney' is a solid androgynous name (like Rooney Mara, as mentioned above).

You could go 'Chaz' for a boy. Other solid names: Bubby, Weegie, Tunch . . .

Kaye in honor of Cowher's late wife.

I agree with this. I don't like Rooney as a first name, not at all. I gotta side with your wife on this one

Since the Steelers have at least 3 "Jacks" in the HOF - I think that would be an intuitively obvious choice (perhaps Jackie if a girl). Then as a consolation - you can name your brand new yellow and black Corvette "Mr Rooney" to square things up. ;)

I am a teacher, and one of the boys at our school is named Rooney. Yes, because of the Rooneys. His parents are HUGE Steeler fans.

How about L.C.? I mean i'm a young guy but I know my steelers history, and since I was a little kid my pap has told me how much of a travesty it is that L.C. Greenwood is not in the HOF. Could be a way to honor him :)

In this day and age of unique, strange, weird names maybe you could talk you wife into naming your son Hypocycloid Rooney Morrow.

If it's a girl though I don't think the wife would agree to Hypocycloidia. High School would be really rough on her when discussing STD's in health class.
