Its not a move to take lightly at all. If you're benching someone, you need to plan on doing it for the rest of the season. You have to think about the locker room and the message that it sends. It doesn't need to happen right now since our season isn't in danger. If we lose another game or two, then yes it hangs in the balance.. but we don't HAVE to make the move, and I am not in favor of making the decision until we absolutely HAVE to.

It's not like Wilson is the clear-cut starter and has all this history with us. He looked significantly worse in the pre-season than Fields has in the first 5 games, so I don't know why so many think that dropping Wilson into the offense immediately improves it. On the contrary, I think Wilson is a downgrade from what we've seen so far this year from Fields based on the state of the offense. This team doesn't have a lot of help. Our OL is beat to shreds with injuries, our non-Pickens WR's are absolute garbage, Najee is terrible... It's not like Fields has been failing hard in a perfect situation. He's done a lot of good and has been a little inconsistent at times, but overall I think his play is FAR from being bad enough to consider replacing him at this stage. Give him another week at least, maybe 2... If he stinks and we lose, then its the right time to make the move.

Hmmm. Me thinks this is the same guy that said we should stick with Trubisky. Did You agree with that???

I don't understand either. I mean .....I know that TJ Watt is great, but if our D was ranked like our offense, and someone suggested trying a different OLB.....I would be like ....go ahead....why???.....because I know he would win the job back quickly. Yet for all the answers everyone is giving about why not try a different Qb.....sounds like fear.
Also.....Ben said to stick with Trubisky.....I don't see anyone saying that was a great idea. Ben will not talk bad about Qbs.

Kind of weird for Ben to say this. And take sides. What did Russell Wilson ever do to him? The only way you can justify keeping Fields in there is if he is setting the world on fire. But hes not. Hes not even really close. So you have to go a healthy Wilson and give him the chance to start.

Whomever is starting....Ben backs. I can show a video of Him saying we should stick with Trubisky. LoL
I don't see any Trubisky fans crying about that. Ben won't talk bad about anyone starting at Qb.

Thats my opinion as well. is Devante a beast, yes, if you have a team that is playing well and is one weapon short you take that chance. At this point we are not in that category, the holes we thought we fixed are not fixed due to injury or other issue, throwing that kind of CAP money into a situation (even though we seemingly will have room next year) where the guy is 32 is beyond risky, it borders on stupid. Not selling or buying, work with what you have and do your best,

Ben is too "pollyanna" when it comes to the Steelers. I wish he was more like Troy Aikman. Aikman rips into the Cowboys and criticizes them every chance he gets. :lolol:

So Ben feels Pickens won't be a problem going forward if we land Adams? I guess Ben feels Fields will light it up with them two?

Good WR’s actually make those catches. Even Pickens let one go through his hands, a crucial missed opportunity that almost certainly would have led to 3 more points. Could have used that. It’s ludicrous to act like having bad WR’s wouldn’t affect the level of play by the QB.

You’re also ignoring a very conservative offensive game plan which isn’t helping. He didn’t seem to have trouble putting up better numbers when they had to be aggressive because they fell behind against the Colts.

Last week was his worst game to date but still threw for two TD’s and led the team to a go ahead score with 4 minutes to play, dont really care if you are not impressed with that, its still an improvement and something he hasn’t done before then. He has shown improvement in every area that he has struggled with during his first 3 years. To expect him to just start balling right away is silly. Everyone knew they had things to work on with him to help him realize his potential. I don’t know if he ever will but pulling the plug on him now is counterproductive.

Ben wants to stick with the same quarterback when the team is not doing well

    Ben is blaming the receivers

    Ben wants another receiver

Boy I sure didn’t see that coming

Glen, buddy, I 400000000% agree with all that you say!

Devonte Adams would be stupid to even consider coming to Steelers' unimaginative offense.

I wish we would get Devante just so everyone can get yet another reminder that talent isn't the problem. Remember how everyone was scratching their heads when the "Killer B's" weren't the next greatest show on turf?

It's Tomlin. He's the reason we are never a contender for a playoff run, let alone a SB run. Always been Tomlin since he ran out of Cowher's team.

Man, Adams would be a total idiot to agree to come to the Steelers. My money is that Adams says no freaking way to the trade.

If Ben thinks that we are that close to winning a Super Bowl then he is in his basement smoking the funny stuff.

I still don't have a clue why Davonte would want to come to Pittsburgh and play on an offense that is going through a rebuild.

The only way I see him coming is if he has some connection with Russell Wilson.

You clearly have not been watching Fields much the past few years. He's exactly what we saw in Chicago. Difference being he has a better defense here...he's been forced into airing it out less in Pitt , less turnovers. That could also be a product of an emphasis on him turning the ball over less. He's still fumbled a couple times... a couple of which were just ridiculous. I get why people have hope he could break out due to his 1st round pedigree but fact of that matter is... he's had plenty of chances to show what he's got. He's a great backup QB IMO. He does not deserve to be a starter at this point. No one is winning a SB with Fields unless they're running out the best running game and defense in the NFL. Not many teams have that luxury.

I don't see our QB situation getting any better anytime soon. Unless Wilson blows us away and wants to play here in 2025 we are without a QB. Will not have a premium draft pick because are built for mediocrity. Means we draft a QB and sign another mediocre free agent and hope for the best. Not exactly a sustainable winning plan IMO.
