Robert Saleh fired by the Jets.

I didn't see this coming only 5 games into the season.

Rodgers probably had something to do with this.

 

I'd say he had everything to do with this.

 

Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel are being named as possible replacements for Saleh, but will Rodgers want to play for an old school, no nonsense type of coach? Rodgers will want someone that will let him have free rein to do what he wants. That is why the Jets now have an incompetent lackey like Nathaniel Hackett as their OC because that is who Rodgers wanted.

 

Vrabel would be perfect, IMO. The defense is already stacked for him.

 

I don't know the facts of this but.... there was a reference to Saleh wearing political stuff on the sidelines as well as his team struggling. I'll see if I can find a link.

Let's hire Saleh as a "consultant" for two weeks. They can't really change their entire scheme in 2 weeks.

Yes that is true. I don't really have any issue with it. But I'm not in the decision making chair.
The article says he wrote it in a response to the Middle East conflicts. That is making a political statement no matter your heritage.

Saleh's contract runs through 2025. Must be nice get five million for doing nothing.

I think people saying this is a reason are pushing a different agenda. He likely got fired because the offense has stunk for years, still stinks with Rodgers, and the owner did not agree on how he was handling it. Apparently they were going to add Arthur Smith to the equation before he came to Pittsburgh.

At a meeting on Tuesday morning, Saleh informed the coaching staff that passing game coordinator Todd Downing would become the game-day play-caller, with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett demoted. Hackett wasn’t being fired in the classic sense, but it was going to be his decision to whether he stayed.

Then, after the meeting, Saleh found out he was being fired in the classic sense.

To show how sheltered we were in my neck of the woods almost 60 years ago, I told my friend Bob that I wanted to ask this girl Debby out because she was so pretty.
