Until the problems on the Oline get fixed it won't matter.

maybe not, but the OLINE problems are not getting fixed in 2024, so make the QB change and see if it anything is different.

the OLINE is the OLINE this year.

Warren is the missing link - and BIG TIME.

Try another QB - it is neither of their faults, technically. Injuries + Tomlin / Smith are the problem. Then - yes, we need better WR's, but we don't need one now, because our QB's don't have a chance.

working toward that .500 season mark , again.....

We need Warren back when he is healthy, and even Patterson, will make a difference. Patterson was ok running with this Oline.

Amari Cooper is not happy. Perhaps we could get him to help us out. Obviously, a divisional trade is harder but we can dream.

Adams would probably punch Pickens in the face.
Pickens has a ton of talent, he's wasting it. There are half a dozen clips where his effort was just zero - on prime time tv!

Sorry, but QB's are the problem here. They aren't very good.
You can make a mediocre offensive line look good:
    - Get rid of the ball quickly.
    - Toss some deep passes to force defenders out of the box
    - Run the ball... Warren is a piece of it, but Harris is bull. There is no reason for him not to get 100 yards.
    - If Tomlin is enforcing the offense to "play not to lose" then the higher ups need to have a chat with him.
    - Austin has run his course here, his defense is stale. Nothing can be done now.
    - Fields, I think they really cannot turn him loose (Highlight films from Chicago are scary)
    - Meanwhile, you can take advantage of Fields scrambling... watch some Jayden Daniels film... this would go a long way to helping the offense.

said it elsewhere, but Mahomes would make things work here. Some think it is just the Oline or WR's. No - it is CRAPPY QB play + Tomlin.

Ben was YOUNG and won with a severely PATCHWORKED Oline for a couple of years. He had a great D, but that was coached by the HOF Legend LeBeau. We ain't got him around any longer either.

    IE - Tomlin problem....

Roethlisberger was well established as the starter and had a Super Bowl ring before he had to play behind a patchwork line.

It is difficult to get rid of the ball quickly when nobody is open. This team is short a receiver. Adding one would help.

I'm disappointed that Fields really hasn't done anything special as a runner. He has had some good plays, but nothing dynamic.

Can anyone point out anything they see about this offense that is different than last year with the exception of the jet sweep being tossed?
The problem is Tomlin, he has the clamps on the offense.

I just think we need the deep ball, and it is non-existent with Fields.

    Wilson needs to start.

They never touched on why the heck Washington and Heyward were on the field and Muth on bench. He was not used at all in that game . Our 50 million dollar tight end. Jeez louise

Agree Ben is smoking something saying New Orleans here we come. Please our O line is a shambles and our D in crunch time is shaky as hell.

Here's the way I see it.
We've seen basically the same offense dating back to when Ben was here. Finctner, Canada, and now Smith. Same unimaginative crap. Can all three of those guys be that bad and that much alike or could it be that Tomlin is pulling the strings?
All we heard about all summer was how much Smith used the running game and Tight Ends. Where's that at? QB's may not be elite, but they ain't that bad. Oline has problems, but these are still NFL caliber players.
Muth and Washington should be lighting it up right now. Pickens is an idiot, but if this offense is somewhat competent he gets his catches and settles down? RB is an issue, but we can get creative and open some things up for whoever is in there.

Maybe a change to Wilson at QB will help? Maybe a trade for a WR or OL would solve some issues.
Tomlin will still be the coach though and until he gets his head out of his ass and proves he can get over the playoff hump, probably not much is going to change.

Fields is never going to win in the postseason. He's not a good QB. Sure he's an amazing athlete but as a passing QB he's not good. He can't read defenses. He throws into coverage. His deep ball is not accurate. We once again rank near the bottom of the league in passing. Near the bottom of the league in scoring. Fields is not a QB that is going to win a game with his arm , He's not going to drive the field in the 4th quarter to win many games. Come from behind wins are not going to be his thing either. Sure he can have an occasional great game but his norm is avg at best.

We really have not seen this offense executed as it's designed because of the fact that Fields can't read a defense or execute a game plan. He's a back yard baller that any good defense can easily stop. At least with Wilson he has shown the ability to read defenses and execute plays as they were designed. I'm sure he'll struggle as he gets up to game speed and learns the offense but he is IMO the only chance we have at winning in the post season. If 8 or 9 wins is your goal...then sure let's stick with Fields. Then Ben won't have to worry about any of his game records being broken in Pitt. I love Ben as a QB but that does not mean he knows anything about personnel.

There's no down side to playing Wilson now. Give Wilson 3 or 4 games to show what he can do. If the results are the same then go back to fields . The time on the sideline might do him some good. If Wilson sucks then we miss the playoffs or will be one and done just as we would be with Fields were the QB.

As far as Adams goes... sure I'd love to have him. But to suggest Fields struggles are because our WR's are not good is laughable.

It’s certainly not helping. His WR’s failed to come down with some very catchable balls Sunday. Are you seriously making the argument that having a poor WR group has no impact on a QB? Even Mahomes level of play has dropped off because of poor WR’s and Fields is no where near as good a QB.

Except he just did that for what should have been a game winning drive but the defense choked it away. So unless you think Wilson will lead them to a SB they should stick with Fields who has shown improvement in every aspect in just 5 games.

He also came close to bringing them back late from a substantial deficit the game before. Helmet snap thwarted the last chance.

It takes two to tango, what if Adams doesn't want to play for Steelers?
Granted we need an effective/efficient wr that can get open and SCORE.
And a coaching staff that does not play to conservative. Can't scare the QB
And keep telling him not to make a mistake, he will be afraid to throw any pass
Just as we have seen the last 2.5 years.

I’ve actually watched the games so yes I can
Point out the offense is different. Very different.

    Similar results though.

The poor QB play from fields is not a product of the WR's dropping the ball. You're cherry picking one or two drops and saying if a few passes were caught that Fields would be good? Your argument makes little sense for a couple reasons...first one being we have not had that many drops on easy catches.... I think some of the catchable balls you are talking about were not as "catchable" as you think. Most importantly Fields glaring issues are about getting the ball out of his hands , reading the defense, finding the WR's, and getting a pass off that is catchable. Our WR's are getting open. He's not seeing the field... the same damn issue we saw last season with Picket. Fields is a 4th year QB. He's not a rookie. These issues should not be so glaring with a QB that should be in their prime.

As for Mahomes... the chiefs still managed to pass for over 1,000 yards more than we did with bad WR's vs our far superior group of pass catchers.

The defense held the cowboys to 20 points. Fields had 133 yards passing vs a bad defense without their 3 best players. He missed multiple throws to Pickens not to mention wide open receivers that he just didn't see.

His amazing 4th quarter drive that you point to has evidence that he's a good QB was helped by a short field and a 15 yard penalty. after 5 weeks I've yet to see consistent QB play out of a 4th year QB with better than avg talent around him. There's plenty of other QB's around the league putting up the #'s . Where are we ranked in passing rn?

I don't get why people are afraid to see what another qb has to offer. Specially one that was to be the starter. Plus they're both on 1 year contract.

If we were sitting at 4-1 I get it. But we are 3-2. And anyone could say the last 2 games needed an offense to score more points.

Deep ball to who? We've thrown it to Pickens and completed it a few times only to get negated by penalty. Heyward dropped his attempt last week... Wilson isn't going to magically solve the deep ball.
